I like the drain on his garage floor for indoor washing.

This is the standard garage grit trap, as per building code. The fact that it's in the garage means this one has no basement below if attached to a house. I have the same trap, but in the basement, piped to a drain in the center of the garage.
Must be a Quebec thing then or maybe for garages below ground level?
Railton

When I saw Wing's attached garage, in a fairly recent build, I was stunned that there was no drain at all - just a slight slope to the door. I hose out my floor and mop it regularly, love having a drain!
Most garages in Ontario (except those built by smaller builders or custom builders) don't even have steers relief grooves in the garage floors let alone grit traps.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

yea, i've never seen a drain in a garage...i suppose if you built new, you could spec it in, but i don't think that's very common here.

You can’t have a drain in your garage here. Against code IIRC.  Cannot tie into sewer.
that makes sense...can you tie into storm drain though (like the sump pump)?

That would be worse IMO. Major concern for the environment.
i was thinking about snow melting, but you could also have things like oil leaks and gas spills, etc...i never thought about that part so yea, you likely can't do it here.

A lot of homes here have the grit/water traps in their garages, but they aren't connected to anything.  If they fill up you clean them out.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Cleaning them out must be a pleasant job...well, maybe not as bad as a septic tank clean out I suppose.

For the liquids you could just do what my neighbour did; drill holes in the bottom to let the liquid seep out  :P.  Then he wondered why his driveway heaved.

My folks have floor drains in the garage (under each car location) and then a big trap in front of each door.   I do wonder where they run?   Almost certainly an illegal environmental disaster setup knowing my father!  ;D

My garage is a gravel floor, good thing I have no need for liquid fuels (for cars or gardening).

Then again, I do have an electric chain saw, and I keep the chain oil secured/safe from spills in a specific container for this purpose.
My wife said "what's this oil doing here?!" the other day when she opened the container, she hadn't seen oil for years since we went entirely electric.

Nice example of a 997.2

https://www.autotrader.ca/a/Porsche/911/Vaughan/ON/5_49638942_ON20080128101817289?loc=L4K4V8&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7N-BiIHB7AIVUevACh32LgryEAEYASAGEgLOUfD_BwE

Seen that one a while back, it's nice, but not great... sport seats & a 3rd pedal would be nice!  ;D  At least it has the sport chrono package which is apparently a "must have" with the PDK  ;D

Or for an extra $3,000 you can jump into a 991 with a CPO warranty from the same dealer. Hmmm...991's are starting to get very interesting.

Yeah, the 991's have dropped quite a bit, not much over a 997.2, and in some cases even less.

That may be the first 991 I've seen that actually has the base wheels.

I wonder how many 911s are sold with zero options.  I would totally rock a base model 911 with no options, I'd wear that like a badge of honor.  When I would get together with other Porsche owners I would give them a hard time about spending so much on options.

I wanted the base with full leather and LSD.

Was the lightest version on offer...2900lbs

Yes! Was a really good car.
