This thread needs an update Martin.
Railton

Update. Porsche fund still at ~$37,000. Lots of on-line browsing, as usual. Negative: Spouse not working :(  Positive: Portfolio recovering and I'm still working :)

I think my focus for 2020 will be to fix up the garage (lighting, flooring, cabinets, etc.) and pull the trigger next year. Unless something really interesting comes up.

Pulling for you man!!

I still have a hardon for an IS-F... just saw this one...

Would need to unslam it though...

^^Fantastic cars.

I miss mine.

Engine sound worth price of admission...makes it almost impossible to stay out of the throttle!!

For theta kind of money though...I'd be shopping RC-F.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Lots of want with this example:

Damn, as soon as the finer weather comes around, the sports car hormones start going into overdrive...
I love it when a plan comes together.

I'm seeing some declines on Porsche prices...though mostly for newer cars on dealer lots in the 90K - 120K range

I don't know if you guys (and gal ) are aware, but in addition to a new subscription service, Porsche recently launched a rental service. You can rent a variety of Porsches, including 911s and 718s. Not cheap but could be a great way to thoroughly test drive a particular model for a day or two.

Or, who knows, maybe it will sufficiently scratch that itch, that the need to spend big $$$ on a purchase subsides, for a while. Like taking a hit :)

for now...they may expand it.

when i got married, i was looking for something like this as i wanted to rent a 911 (or something else amazing) as a wedding car...sadly, no such thing existed here and ended up with a Chrysler 300M...it was the nicest car i could get outside of the GTA (the only place "close" where you could rent something higher end)...the 300M was nice, but certainly not what i was wanting to get.

Yeah, nothing wrong with the basic spec but I think it explains the price a bit. Most people are looking for an S with sport chrono, full leather, etc.

That one above in particular I've seen for sale for over 1 year. Base or not, a manual 991 Carrera with only 30,000 km for $69,000 should sell quickly. Maybe its the location, but I think there's more to this car than meets the eye.
I requested the Car fax yesterday but nothing came via email.
Looks to have memory for the seats, Nav and ventilated Seats too.
Normally I would stay away from Quebec stuff but this one warrants closer inspection.
Railton

Nice. Keep us posted. I smell an accident. Nice car though.
$40k in damage. Apparently no frame damage. ;D
Railton

Still sitting there after nearly 2 years. Good example of an illiquid Porsche.

So Porsche enthusiasts, what do you the market price is on this one?

Depends what's found after the local Porsche dealer does a thorough inspection.

Yes and no.

Porsche owners are some of the most insufferable enthusiasts I met.

I could definitely see them turning their nose up at ANY accident car.

yea, and as i've said before, BUYERS set the price, not sellers...the owner might think car X is worth $50k, but if the highest offer he has is $35k, that's what it's worth...and it works both ways...if selling a home, and you think it's worth $350k and list it for that, and it sells for $400k, it's worth $400k.

https://www.porsche.com/canada/en/accessoriesandservices/porschedrive/rental/

So I signed up for the rental service. It's pretty neat. You download an app which you then use to rent various Porsches, but it is an application process. I had to provide them a picture of my driver's licence, myself, insurance card as well as a non-certified 3 year driver's record (all clean), and of course a credit card. Now that I'm all set up I simply use the app, pick a date and they drop off and pick up the car at my house.

I plan to use this as a way to test drive various modern Porsches to see what they are all about, and have a day date with the wife. I've never driven a Porsche so I'm starting with a clean perspective. I even received a text from them asking my preferences. I asked what kind of model they have within the 718 and 911 line-up, S vs. base, manual, etc. Their response was as follows:

"Fortunately, we have the Boxter, Cayman and 911 openly available on the fleet. We have S and base models and most vehicles are automatic but manuals are expected to be added to the fleet in the nearby future"

I want to start with the hairdresser's special: A base 718 Boxster PDK.

Looking into this - i'm intrigued.

Says "Primary insurance has to be provided by the customer". Does that mean it should be covered by my existing policy/credit card? I'm pretty sure either one has a maximum vehicle value stipulation.

I believe so but I'll have to dig into the details. Plus, I just remembered there is a $5000 hold / deposit on your credit card.
