I dunno if they're doing fine. 718 sales are a fraction of what Boxster/Cayman sales used to be. The price creep can't help.

Has anyone here driven a tiptronic Porsche? And if so, what do you guys think?

This 993 is gorgeous...

No personal experience, and that car looks amazing, but IIRC those old Tiptronics definitely don't have any performance advantages over manuals the way modern PDKs do. I think it would be tough to give up the manual in something like a 993.

My Cayenne is "Tiptronic",   I almost always leave it in auto, but occasionally do hit the steering wheel button to go up or down a gear depending upon conditions.
In manual the shifts are pretty crisp and the torque converter doesn't slip like a wound up rubber band,  Still, it's not a stick or a PDK, but depending on how you're going to drive it, that might not be a problem.

I don't understand why it's so cheap? What's wrong with it?

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

I thought the tiptronic on the air-cooled cars was horrendous.. It is a 4 speed and the 0-100 is 1 second slower than a manual.. That would explain the value. I wouldn't want a tiptronic 911 and I am obsessed with 911's.

Tip with aftermarket bodykit isn't do it any favours.

Simply posting this as a distraction...certainly my Porsche buying has been severely deferred :(

Anyway, pretty cool 997.2 build. 4S, manual, convertible, full leather interior (which is nice) and quite the contrasting colour.

Thoughts?

That one has been coming up as an ad on Facebook for me. I like it a lot. Too bad it doesn't have the sport seats.

Yep, that's very nice .. but a bit out of my budget... I'm hoping for a covid-19 induced 25%+ discount in the coming weeks...

Definitely on the pricey side, but lovely leather...

So far I haven't noticed much of a drop in prices on BAT... the stock market seems to be rebounding as well... so we'll see if the prices drop at all  ???

In the grand scheme of things, probably best that we don't see massive drops in prices of Porsches...

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Update. Porsche fund still at ~$37,000. Lots of on-line browsing, as usual. Negative: Spouse not working :(  Positive: Portfolio recovering and I'm still working :)

I think my focus for 2020 will be to fix up the garage (lighting, flooring, cabinets, etc.) and pull the trigger next year. Unless something really interesting comes up.
