Weathertechs arrived for the MDX.  Fit is excellent.  Looks great since they are brand new,  Time will tell if they can hold their colour.  Next up is the Armada.  A necessary evil in my environment.

Cool. I got the WeatherTechs and trunk liner for the LS 460. Fitment is perfect, we'll see how they hold up after the winter.

Along with the mats, Weathertech included an 80 page Product Catalogue.  Many interesting things; one of which are license plate covers.  Good ones are increasing difficult to find so if they can include them with the new mat shipment I may order a few.

Can I ask why you would want a license plate cover?? ??? It seems all they are are ads for car dealers or car brands. Just wondering why you would want / need one.
If you want more in life you have to make an effort.

I use plain acrylic covers on all my personal vehicles.   Good ones are getting harder to find.  However, these Weathertechs are pricey.  I have numerous plates from the 1978-1982 series  ("KEEP IT BEAUTIFUL") that have special letters and numbers.  Very lucky plates.  :D

Without the covers they'd be long destroyed.

I've had mine in the Pilot 3.5 years now, and the colour has held up fine.  It's the edges that have become a problem, they have bowed in places and are no longer flush against the car.  My kids have started tripping on them, so at least the large rear mat is going to need to be replaced soon.  With what, I don't know.

I just got them for BMW. While I find them (very) pricey at $45-$50 bucks a pop, they are the "Cadillac" of license plate covers - perfect fit, rubber gasket around, caps for screws, etc.
I got one from CT thinking it's a pack of 2 for $24 bucks (misplaced on the shelf) but after I got home and looked at it and also realized the real price I was about to return it, but seeing how well is made and fit I went back and bought another one instead.

More importantly, the carpet under looks pristine still. Just needed some vacuuming and a bit of brushing on the exposed parts.

You can see those Husky mats doing the same thing. Hit them with a hair dryer or heat gun (be careful) and remold them.

Never occurred to me to try that.  Off to do some research....

Second purchase of front Weathertechs in just a few weeks.  :P    Fit of course was perfect.  Note the foot pedal operated parking brake on the Armada.  So superior to fumbling about looking for the electronic switches that are located all over the place in vehicles equipped with electric brakes.  You'd think the F150s would have stuck with the tradition foot pedal.  :P

I'm a fan of foot pedal parking brakes and I'm not a fan of electronic ones. Let's be real though, 75% of automatic drivers don't use them either way.

Doesn't Toyota automatically engage the parking brakes when the transmission is put into Park now?

Are the electric E-brakes better at resisting corrosion than the cables?  That would be the only benefit IMO.

The only car I've had that issue with was an '89 Pontiac Sunbird. Cable broke twice  :rofl2:. Ironically, our Mazdas had rust issues but never an issue with the e-brakes. I trained my wife to use the e-brake all the time, even with our automatics. I think regular use keeps them form getting seized.

Btw, I think most new cars now come with electric e-brakes so kind of unavoidable when buying new.

e brakes are cheaper for the manufacturers.  But they don't hold like the drum style.

I thought "electronic" just referred to the actuation, like instead of being cable actuated. But the method would be the same, whether caliper type, drum style or hybrid (caliper rear brake with drum e-brake). It's supposed to help with packaging, i.e. no large hand pull taking up up valuable real estate on the center console. Foot brake doesn't take up much space though so dunno 乁( •_• )ㄏ

Firstly, the units that are in the console are emergency brakes that one can actually use to slow the vehicle down.  These are usually cables attached to the caliper and actually use the caliper pads to engage the rotor.

The foot pedal units are typical parking brakes.  Cabled connected to drums inside the rear hub.  You can also slow the vehicle down in an emergency but not with the same control as the hand unit.

"e brakes" as described above are purely parking brakes and double as the "brake hold" feature in many cars.  Haven't tried, but I don't think the vehicles computer will allow an e brake to be set while the vehicle is moving.  An e brake is integrated into the back of the caliper.  Held in by tiny bolts not easily accessible.  Once corroded good luck.  You cannot change the pads without deactivating these motors.  If the vehicle doesn'y have a owner/user access function to the vehicles computer you'll need a programmer.  If that's not happening, then you need to dissemble if you're lucky and hope it all goes back together.  During this process the vehicle is disabled.

No idea the cost of these motors, but it will be outrageous and will really scr*w used owners that all already struggling financially.  It's not as dumb as stop/start, but close.  :P
