I think it looks great (the 508 even better...) and really hope they put the 3.3T from the Stinger into it.  :)  Even the 2.0T from the Stinger would be good, but I suspect it will get a much smaller engine.

Walk-around YT video of the KDM version.

https://youtu.be/lqfQP5HGIxw

It looks sharp in every trim. Even the hybrid looks sporty instead of the usual "vegetable lasagne", well maybe except the flower-pattern rims. No way I'd even consider a Sonata over this K5.

If anyone hasn't seen some of Asian Petrolhead reviews, you should. He test drive cars like he has just stolen them.

Look more closely - he speeds up the video on those sweeping corners.  I do very much enjoy his vids - but he's not actually whipping a Palisade around a corner at insane speeds.  I kind of wish he'd abandon that bit of fromage.

I've seen a number of his reviews and he actually drives at a pretty high pace.  You can often hear the tires scream for grip when he goes around bends.

The G70 review he just did he flew around the corner. The Palisade was fakeroo. As have been several others. Big the tires were squealing there - which I can certainly believe - they were doing so at a lower speed than the video suggests.

That colour scheme is bound to be popular with the starwars fans  ;D

Seriously, I friggin' love the design, inside and out. The front reminds me of Mitsu Diamante.

First drive of the 2021 K5 (Optima) with a 1.6L turbo (by Asian petrol head):

Hybrid shown at 3:36min  It has a sharper looking front fascia IMO.

From the same guy, a test drive of 2.0L I4 + 6spd auto. It appears to be a multi-port injected engine and we probably won't see this combo over here. Nevertheless, a great looking car inside and out IMO.

So does that mean Hyundai/Kia are doing away with Direct Injection?  Probably a smart move...

i wonder if it's the same engine that's in the current Soul...that's a 2.0L MPI 4 cylinder engine that runs on the Atkinson cycle for better efficiency (sacrificing a bit of power), although that vehicle also uses their new iVT transmission (CVT)...having driven that combo a few months ago, it's actually quite good.

Word is they will be using both DI + Port injection in one of their new engines, again I forget which  :-[
I do recall it's destined for North America.

I think that's the 2.5t that will be in the Sonata N-Line.

Sounds like Kia is ditching the Optima name and replacing it with the K5, as found in Korean and many other markets. Good choice IMO.

Sounds like AWD may not be offered in Canada, which is weird. Maybe they're trying to avoid overlap with the Stinger, but obviously that 2.5T model with the dual clutch transmission would be the one to get.

Not loving that silver piece of trim that flows with the roofline.
