While I dont love it (yet, maybe it will grow on me), it still looks much better than the VW ID4 and somewhat better balanced visually compared to the 'Stang EV, IMHO. Also it's convenient to have a choice of range, driven wheels and the motor output. And the two spoke wheel looks amazingly comfortable and well designed. All in all if priced right I think Nissan has got themselves a winner   :)

Not a fan of the styling (lots of bits and bobs all over), but the interior layout is cool.

98% production ready. Not sure if it's news (I think it is) but the Ariya gets active liquid battery cooling which is crucial for all who are going to buy this car pre-owned.

Ouch - pricing is up there for the brand. It already has an handicap to surmount in Quebec with that goof of a name, CDN pricing won't help. Anything above Rogue doesn't sell here - even the Leaf.

Its success will depend on the monthly lease payments  ;)

I don't think it'll be possible for them to offer even the base FWD model for that magic $44,999 CAD.  But I do like that the AWD version will have some balls at least, over 350hp and a 0-60 of 4.8 seconds but even that is likely a little conservative.  Makes the Toyota EV thingy look even more weak sauce.

One day people will have to stop comparing a chicken wing and a steak because both are meat.

The Toyota is not-quite Rav4-sized, while the Nissan is more luxo-midsize CUV like a Murano.

US pricing - in number, not currency - is indeed almost at the CDN incentive cutoff.

Don't know how they will price this in Canada but the us prices are a huge step imho.

It is my guess too, otherwise it (potentially) won't fit into any federal or provincial rebate program.

For what it worth

Google translate (I feel lazy)
"Nissan has yet to release pricing for its Ariya, but it is specified that it will be eligible for government incentives, implying the possibility that the starting price will be under $ 45,000. Pre-order will begin in January."

So either we're getting a stripper with a Leaf battery, or Americans are getting screwed (for once).
