Nissan ARIYA EV
« on: October 21, 2019, 09:39:03 pm »

https://insideevs.com/news/377633/nissan-ariya-child-leaf-rogue/

"The Leaf-Rogue child would have a 480 km (300 miles) range according to the EPA cycle. The size would be similar to that of the Rogue/Qashqai, even if the interior size would be comparable to that of the Murano. Able to carry five people, it would be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 5 seconds."  :D

Ariya looks production ready as it came with "normal" door handles and mirrors. I think with factory wheels it actually appears to be more conservative in the exterior design than some cars in Nissan's line-up such as Murano for example. I'd rather a 4 door sedan but I guess this is what ppl demand.

but it's coming late 2021.....  might as well not show it.  they've been showing it for yrs now.  same goes for vw.  show me the money!  where's the beef?!

It's all about competition. On one hand you don't want to show future cars too early because you have existing stock to sell. But on the other you don't want your competition such as VW ID and Tesla Y to begin taking deposits on their upcoming cars ahead of you.
I agree that late 2021 is a little late.

I like this concept's exterior a little better than the ID4's. All Nissan needs to do is hurry up.

‘Late’ I disagree...EVs barely sell and suffered a big slump in sales in 2019, adoption seems to be slowing down instead of picking up.

Nothing else is succeeding beyond Tesla so far.

Worldwide adoption is growing YoY, lumpy depending on region.
Tesla at 367000 units is nearly 20% of WW production.

Quote
After 11 months of 2019, sales exceed 1,942,000 (average market share is 2.2%), which means that 2019 will close at around 2.15 million sales, compared to over 2 million in 2018.

Numbers are all estimated...they have reviewed the numbers at the end of Q4, take a look:

https://insideevs.com/news/343998/monthly-plug-in-ev-sales-scorecard/

So in a market that was mostly flat or had a small decline, EVs sales dropped 11% compared to 2018 —globally...the US alone was 12% down.

Tesla is really the only successful company today at selling EVs.

I didn't find that in the article, which was about US sales, sorry I might have missed the global reporting section?

we have committed to buying a new car this yr and it won’t be an EV.

What type (car/SUV) and what price range?   Are there no EV's or PHEV's that suite your selection criteria?

While some investors and car makers try to push
people down to the EV world, people are pushing themselves instead into SUVs LOL

Indeed.   Tesla has two large vehicles for sale now, and a mid-sized SUV Model Y due out soon which has been estimated to reach the combined market of all current Tesla offerings combined, SUV format is popular.

It looks like a really good SUV, it's good to see Nissan finally get into the EV game. The only thing that worries me a bit is all this stuff between them and Renault and the idea of them ending their partnership.

I'm not a fan of Nissan but this Ariya seem ok to me, it will easily merge (drown?) in the sea of CUV we navigate now.

" ... the Ariya is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in mid-2021, followed by the US and Canada later in the year"
Gone but not forgotten in chronological order: 2019 Volt, 2013 Volt, 2014 Spark EV, 2012 Volt and many others before...

I meant the whole car market turns into CUV & SUV thing, nothing specifically against the Ariya or others EVs mentioned above.
