Excellent! Are you also telling us about your new job?

I mentioned it in another thread, but now that I've started I can be more specific: I'm the Director, Product Planning at VW Canada.

Boss wheels!
How long do you get to drive these loaners before moving on?

I need to hand it back before it hits 12,000 km, more or less identical compared to my last employer. The catch here is I'm now driving ~140-150 km per day, or ~36,000 km per year. Needless to say I'll be swapping out fairly often!

So, then they go back to the VW pool to be sold off like lease vehicles?

That is one sweet ride and the wagon too.
The new job sounds like an awesome opportunity. Congrats.
Are you going to move closer or just keep commuting?

personally, i'd like to see the A1 come here...perhaps even an RS1?

I second that!
Besides, VW is the parent company, so it should be no problem to show Audi who's boss and tell them to give us the A1. Right??? :)

I was waiting for Mrs tpl's car to finish being detailed and saw an article in Automotive news. That VW  are 'stockpiling' Golf wagons for sale in Canada as they don't sell in the USA.    Hmmmmm

Nice perk!

When I had the opportunity to review either the GTI or the R, I went with GTI because it's the reference - and I had not driven one yet. Made for a fun English review on Trader. Two years later I figure I could review the R once we get the white stuff on the ground  ;)

I've driven the GTI and R, and they're both great cars, but the R, damn.  It's SUCH a sleeper, love it.
