The top trim Outback is $46K before taxes.  Even the top trim Corolla Hatch hits $30K before taxes.

Dont get much these days for 40k.
Sure you do, just gotta know what to shop for

Bummer about them not coming back. I really hope they do. Or maybe I don't, it'll encourage me to keep my car longer  ;D.

The wagon isn't all that much bigger than a hatchback but it's just so much more practical. Add the 4motion and VW had a winning package.

Thanks for trying.  ;D

I know a bunch of people with Golf wagons. Two close friends, my dad, and two former coworkers. 3 of 5 are even sticks.

There are two new 2019 Sportwagens in Winnipeg, but they're Execline models for $38,375.  I can see why they wouldn't sell at that price.

$40k for a Golf...sheesh.

Those are fully loaded models though. Most loaded compact crossovers are at least that much.
yup...$40k is the new $30k.

And with that, there is even less hope of the Subaru Levorg making it here  :(

Yeah, too bad because it would be nice to be able to buy a Subaru wagon again.

I guess you could be right, there are so bland and vanilla that I could have confused one with a Golf..

The top trim Outback is $46K before taxes.  Even the top trim Corolla Hatch hits $30K before taxes.

That vehicle is much larger, much more powerful, and much nicer.  $38K for 170 hp Golf with a bit more length it nuts.

That's a $10K price difference incl tax, there should be a difference.

Looking at the VW website, you can get a golf wagon from $22K and up (with incentives). That's a serious amount for car for the money. And even the higher spec ones aren't that expensive.

Yeah, the base ones are a seriously good value. Opt for AWD and you also get the 1.8T, which despite having "only" 170 hp is quite peppy while still fuel efficient.

But then you are at that $38K mark, no?

I paid $25,750 incl. GST  for my 1.8T 4Motion Comfortline with Driver Assistance Package and DSG in May.

No. There are three trim levels (Comfortline, Highline, Execline). An automatic AWD model has an MSRP of under $30k inclusive of fees.
