Would you please point me to the best free places to search a car history with its VIN

looking for all I can get to make a safe purchase... accidents, claims, clear, etc, etc...

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

kinda.   i've searched high and low for free vin check/carfax type info when i was younger and poorer. 
it is definitely worth it to buy carfax.  if you are serious about buying used car that you aren't sure about history.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

that's what I was thinking also..... but secretly hoping for a free avenue

I found this website that give the spec for the cars, it shows safety features also...

if you google NHTSA Vin Decoder,  you will get there...

no historic thought
