And of course no one intervenes...then again...would I?  Probably not...hard to say...

I see nothing has changed since I moved away. Nobody follows the rules, walkers, cyclist, drivers, and everybody has a hate on for anybody else.

I don't like driving through downtown Edmonton because of the chuckleheads in cars, on foot and bicycles, couldn't imagine doing downtown TO on a regular basis

Lighten up Francis.....

I commuted by bike for 10 years through downtown Toronto, it felt similar to this video.

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I get that a lot of cyclists are fed up with aggressive car drivers, but getting medieval on someone when it's not their fault isn't helping the cause.

The crappy part is in Canada our entire road system was designed without bikes in mind.  Drivers are not trained to work with cyclists.  The term "jungle" isn't that far off.

I'd love to cycle more places, but unless I can use trails and side roads, no way.  Thankfully my burb has built a fantastic network of trails and I can get anywhere I need to, but Edmonton is more difficult.

Downtown Edmonton’s separate bike lanes are surprisingly good, and the new neighbourhoods are being built with cyclists in mind. It’s the in between neighbourhoods that suck to ride through.

Yep. I walk through Bay St. from the Union station to Dundas almost every day.  I see idiots from all three, pedestrians (least idiotic since they have the most lose), cyclists (riding on sidewalks when it suits their needs), and drivers (on their phones while driving and not aware of surroundings).  Having said that, about 95% are fine, it's just the 5% that ruins it for everyone.

That is wicked cool!  So, red means super-busy and annoying, or bike-friendly, or both?

Bike friendly, as it tracks bikes, joggers, etc who use the app to track workouts.

Extra bonus, also shows hidden US military bases!

Busy in the core, busy in the river valley, busy in the outskirts, but very little indication that cycling is a popular way to commute particularly from Millwoods and the north side. The crossings on the Yellowhead are brutal, the only grade separated crossings are at the river valley and at the LRT crossing, then there's the 127 St bike route which is poorly developed north of Yellowhead.

Vancouver developed some bike ways that use roads that redesigned to restrict car movement to local movements while making it easy for crosstown bicycle traffic to get through. They work really well and I hope Edmonton will introduce those. Seems Edmonton found some success with the 106 St bike route but it's not a route I'd take my kids for a leisurely ride on.
