1) Good looking car.
2) I wouldn't look forward to replacing the 20" tires.
3) I want more power for 55 grand.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

these are quite popular around my 'hood. Families seem to love them.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I really liked the Passat CC when it came out.  This is more of the same.  It gets a checkmark in my book.

I have one qualm so far:

Quote
The Arteon is available with a single “Execline” trim, but my tester was taken to the nth degree with the addition of the Driver Assistance and R-Line packages. The latter is responsible for those great wheels as well as the leather-wrapped, heated and paddle-shifter-equipped steering wheel.

So, this car is an expensive sedan, available only in one trim with a couple of packages.  And the leather wrapped steering wheel is optional with the R-package.  Are you telling me if you don't get the R-Line package, you just get a plain rubber steering wheel in a car like this?

Huh?

^I don't think so. Even the base Passat gets a leather steering wheel, at least it used to.  Might be different stitching or something.

I looked one over when I got the Jetta. It seemed well done. Kind of too bad the VR6 went away, but that's the way it goes these days.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

They have a VR6 in the Atlas that they could have used.

No, the R-Line just has a different steering wheel.

Okay, that makes more sense.  The article was worded poorly, then.

From vw.ca - the available packages for the Arteon:

Driver Assistance Package ($2,095)
Area View 360
Camera and/or distance sensor (driver assistance system)
Lane Assist
Park assist

R-Line Package (2,995)
20" Rosario alloy wheels 8J x 20
All-season tires 245/35 R20 95H
Aluminum door sills with "R-Line" logo
Black headliner
Interior décor: Silver Rise
R-Line leather heated multi-function steering wheel with paddle shifters

As expected, being an R-Line package, it only adds some overpriced cosmetic bits and nothing more. The steering wheel has an R logo on it and (useless) paddle shifters.

However, unlike lower VW offerings, this one is properly finished all around with higher grade materials and finishes.

Its a purdy car.

But for that price, I would walk over to Audi and get the A4.

Actually, I wouldn't buy an Audi either.

Ignore this post.

I keep misreading the name of this car every time I read it, all I get is Artyom....

For something that costs in the mid 50s, you're gonna have to do better than a lame 4 banger VW.
Lighten up Francis.....

Did you click the link? I think you're mistaking this for the Atlas.

I like those wheels that come with the R-Line package.. but not for that price.

I'd take them as a stand-alone option for $800-1000.

I like everything in the R-Line package. It's expensive but I don't think I'd buy an Arteon without it.

Not that I'd buy one to begin with, but still.

I suspect VW Canada will move all of 1500 of these a year  ::)

I don't think people walk into a VW dealership in the US or Canada saying "I wish there was a Passat that was more expensive with more luxury features." I suspect anyone who would, would have gone straight to the Audi dealership.

It's a lovely car, well-built, and engineered. But it's not really want North America wants.

It's definitely a niche product but it's also bigger than an A4 and offers unique styling.
