I don't understand GM sometimes... If they're slotting it in between the Trax and Equinox, well that will be another small-ish CUV to go along with: Trax, Equinox, Blazer. That will be FOUR CUV's sitting within the span of TWO segments. That's too much!!! They'll cannibilize sales from each other.
If they are replacing the Trax, well, so much for trying to build up a Model name. GM is famous for this. They change the names of their models constantly. Cavalier -> Cobalt -> Cruze!!!! So much for trying to build a sense of stability and longevity.
Honda hasn't renamed the Civic in, what, 40 years? Same goes for the CR-V, the Rav4, and the Corolla. These nameplates haven't changed since their introduction into their respective segments decades ago. This is partially what contributes to their reputation of longevity...Honda and Toyota don't go changing names every 5 years.
Also, GM is copying the headlight treatment directly from the 1st gen of the (new) Cherokee. That's the headlight treatment that received so much derision from the rest of us, and which JEEP subsequently changed to something a little more conventional.
