New = financing. Nope.

$15K easy cash with a budget for some snow tires and thorough servicing.

$12K for a Prius C handily under budget. Under budget is always a good thing!
My neighbour is selling his 2012 Mazda 3 GS skyactive, 6 speed MT. White and 220000 all hwy km. How much would you pay to get it for your daughter?
Comes with one year old winters on rims and one year old summers on Mazda rims.

Why would I do that?  I’ll give her the Corolla and get something newer for my wife.

We just test drove a CT200h on the Lexus lot, WAF high.

CT200h is nicely put together inside - interior materials have a very high quality feel.
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...

The interior of the Lexus is very nice, much nicer than the standard Prius. The size is very “right” as well.

The CT isn’t a powerhouse, but the chassis has a little liveliness baked in.  It’s not as dull as a Corolla.

The paint seems of very high quality, or maybe the one we looked at was just very well cared for.

The prices are all over hell. A 2012 seems to be priced between $15K and $25K!  What a ridiculous range!  And no rhyme nor reason to it - low mileage one owner ones for $15-17K and similar ones for $25K.

The decision is about how important awd would be.

The CT200h handles well, but it's sluggish.  I drove one and an A3 e-tron pretty much back to back.  The e-tron is fun and lively - feels like driving the C30.  The CT200h lacks oomph, but it handles just as well as the Audi, and had the same solid feel.  There are people who tune them to get up to 200hp...

The missus finds her Corolla more than adequate power-wise. The CT200h is fine.

Funny how Lexus didn't put e-AWD on the CT, they are not shy about charging for extra features for that luxury experience.

You'd think not spinning or getting stuck would be up there

They didn't have a compact e-AWD back then IIRC...(circa 2011)
