Prius/Prius C or Rav4...
« on: April 17, 2019, 11:53:02 am »
We’re kinda kicking around the idea of replacing the Corolla. Might give it to the kid. It’s not ideal for her, as she often lives in her car and drives in terrible conditions, but the fuel economy would really help her.

Saw some very clean used Prius C models for about $11-12K. That’s interesting.

I really like the 2013- RAV, prices are all over hell, but looks like a decent price would be $15K for a cherry 2014 or so one.

RAV has AWD and more space, but fuel economy isn’t in the same league as the Prius.

Have to get the missus out for some test drives to see what she thinks.

From what I learned from young couple. Prius-C has been frugal, reliable, efficient and ... non passionate driver vehicle.

I'd imagine the PriusC is way less refined than the 'rolla. A test drive is definitely in order.

Were I in your shoes a new AWD Prius would be way up on the list.

Why don't you spend more and get a used Rav4 hybrid 2016 ish.  lol something with a bit more tech and comfort.  At your stage in life would you want to spend a bit more to get good comfort? you keep vehicle long term..

the older i get I start appreciating stuff like, heated steering wheel, backup camera (my neck is getting stiffer by the day), adaptive cruise.....etc.

suggestions..
-Rav4 hybrid or regular
-last models Rav4 v6... so expensive though
-Miata with LS
-Maybe you can find a used lexus NX...
-Prius...sure, meh... I would probably go with a V but looks like you like the smaller cars

I would be looking at a Rav4 either hybrid or not. With the Highlander up there in mileage, wouldn't it be nice to have an AWD vehicle as a backup for your mountain adventures??
Lighten up Francis.....

Yep, may a test drive of the Prius AWD-e in order if not too different from your 'rolla, before making her a donation  ;D (I have a son)

Why get Prius C

Doesn't sound like he wants new. So that is what he has to choose from.

New = financing. Nope.

$15K easy cash with a budget for some snow tires and thorough servicing.

$12K for a Prius C handily under budget. Under budget is always a good thing!

And the kid did NOT say I’m a great skier. She said “Better than ever” and “strong technique.”

I can’t live long enough or ski enough to become “great” to her critical eye.

But whatever she said was still good enough for a Corolla!   ;D

Seriously though...truth be told...I'd rather an older Prius...whatever you can get for $15K vs a Prius C for $15k IMO.

Jon...you can also get a Lexus CT200H for your budget....which I'd take over a Prius or Prius C.

And if you can get over the somewhat awkward looks....a Lexus HS250 also falls within your budget. It's more Corolla-ish.  And they have a pretty decent interior.  I had one for a week while my IS350 was getting the recall done.  Got it into the 4s easily enough. Also, 0-60 in 8.5 seconds or so.  So not a slug.  Has the bigger 2.5L in it.

Oh!  I think the CT200h is an excellent choice. I’ll look at the pricing on those for sure.

I think either that or a regular RAV would be my short list. See what the missus thinks.

Any CT200h would be good....try to find an F-Sport model would be better.

IQ and I were laughing our asses off when we took one on an AutoX track.

Also...Wing recently bought one.

There more room in the Prius compared to the CT
Wing bought a used after selling the IS -F , that tells you something  ;D

If I could easily get in /out of the Prius we would still have
