So I'm starting to look at options for summer tires for my Sequoia, including:
- Running my Bridgestone Blizzaks year round
- Cheap Chinese tires less than $400
- Motomaster APX $533
- All weather tires from Kal Tire and sell the Blizzaks next autumn, $685-705 until March 31
- Whatever cheap and used I can find on Kijiji
So it seems based on the long range forecast that my winters will stay on until April and go back on in October. In that 5.5 months, I have 4,000km of driving planned and that's why I'm considering running the Blizzaks year round. But most of those kms will be hard ones towing a trailer and braking might be an issue.
But I already spent $800 on my Blizzaks and don't really want to spend much on the summer set for the very little driving I would do.
So most attractive option would be to go with cheap Chinese tires. These look good, I would have to drive to Calgary to get them.

Kijiji is a mixed bag, some ok choices but I found some tires with a DOT date code of 0802 like what the hell people.
Going with all weathers year round is another attractive option. Kal Tire has $75 off any set of tires (except Michelin, BF Goodrich, and Uniroyal) right now installed by March 31 and I should surely be able to get $500 for my Blizzaks this winter. No the winter traction won't be quite as good as Blizzak but I've been vocal about how uninspired my Tree felt with them so I may as well get all weathers. Choices include Nordman WR which I liked on my old Odyssey, Sumitomo Encounter AT, Nokian Rotiiva AT. I would also save $160-200 a year on mount and balance since I'm not planning to get a second set of rims in either case.
Thoughts?
