1AR-FE four banger seems to be super solid.  The 4cyl FWD Venza would be a dog to sell, I can see why the price is so low. That said, the driveline has developed a good history and you'd get a lot of vehicle for not much $$.

I don't really need it but that vehicle for that price is too good to pass up. Then you guys can stop hearing me moan and complain about fuel costs.

But how many zone climate control does it have?

Only two, and it didn't appreciate. Fully expecting NormT's wrath of Buick Envision with this one.

Good stuff

Thanks to you and others on this forum for talking sense into me. I'm actually happy with this deal.

Now this is frivolous spending, but I kinda like it:

Yea, and at $138 each the price isn’t bad.

I like my split 3-spoke OE wheels though.

And I hate worrying about whether my vehicle is up to the task.

Canadian Tire has these on sale, also looks good. But no 3PMSS so no option to get rid of my Blizzaks if I wanted.

https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/tires/pdp/motomaster-total-terrain-a-t3-tire-0051004p.0061023.html

But at $166.75 a tire, I got a wicked deal on the Nokians.

So my brother might be trading the Venza in this weekend. He was offered $3500 without having to do any of the work he was supposed to do. They're looking at a 2017 Sienna LE AWD with 38k on it for $34k.

That’s a fair wholesale price for the Venza. I can’t comment on the price for the Sienna as I haven’t looked at the market for them.

$4000 for the Venza?  Ugh, I should offer him that. But I need that car like I need to have my legs amputated.

That will be a sweet deal for somebody. One thing that sunk the Venza IMO is that they were pricy new, but for that price it's a nice stable and roomy ride

My brother in law has one and they find it great on snowy and gravel rural roads where they live due to the 'chopped Highlander' low and wide thing. The only thing they don't like is parking it in town, wide and low makes it a bit tough to see the corners

Probably the dealer since they'll ask $7k for it.

that and the stupidly huge wheels on it...i think they come with 20" wheels, don't they?

Those 20” wheels are a lot more ordinary than when the Venza came out.

His 4 cylinder had smaller 19” wheels. He downsized to 17 or 18 for the winter tires.

He found a 16 Highlander XLE too and he’s torn. He’ll test drive both and see.

Rotiiva vs. KO2.

Winter ratings. Ice ratings are meh but it’s mostly me driving myself in the winter. Nokian R2 SUV for comparison purposes.

I was considering the Nokian WRG3 SUV but they only got 1.5 star for dry braking which doesn’t bode well with trailer towing in my mind.

I can tell you right now the BF Goods are crap on ice. A buddy of mine had some on his Tacoma and after a pants filling ride to Calgary and back he promptly got some proper winters for it. The words he used were "curling rock".....

Rotiivas vs. WRs. I had WRs in Kelowna and thought they were good enough. But I’ll keep the Blizzaks until winter just in case. If anything, the Rotiivas will be good peace of mind if i hit a freak summer snow storm, or just allow me to delay putting the Blizzaks on until winter really hits.

How do people drive pickup trucks on all terrains around here like they’re invincible? On even heavier HD pickups too. That was my expectation as a result and reality isn’t anywhere near that. I don’t want my wife driving it when it’s bad out.

Haha. I wish I could buy it from him now, but I don’t need it either. He paid $13k for it at 3 years ago at 150k so it’s like he leased it for $277 a month. It’s at 232k now.

Keep in mind it needs rear brakes and of course inspection but I can’t think of why it wouldn’t pass inspection other than the brakes.

people do that around here too...go out in bad weather and you'll see their trucks and SUVs in the ditches...meanwhile, the Corollas and Grand Caravans with actual winter tires are happily getting to where they need to go. :)
