My experience is similar with my 8 sp.  Except it IS one of the smoothest I have driven.  Zero hunting or any other issues.  Gear changes aren't as quick as on a ZF, but that's not really an issue for this type of car.  Smooth and seamless matters more.

But hey - the one in SGs Sonata did not perform well and it's his job to say so.
yea, my guess is it's likely software related, and this being a press fleet car, it was likely a "first launch" vehicle (and probably beat on) so i'm sure if you went to a dealership to drive one, it would probably be ok.

The Straight Pipes definitely dig the hybrid version.  "This is the best commuter car that you can buy and I am shocked by how much I like this."

Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

looks like they nailed the mission on this one...some may think the comment about "the best car you can buy for people who don't care about cars" is a negative, but it's not...it's not an enthusiast vehicle (driving dynamics, big power, etc)...it's a mainstream sedan for regular buyers, of which, 99% of shoppers are...can't really disagree with their statements here.

Yep...don't disagree about that statement either.

I had a rental Corolla....sorta disappeared while driving it.  Which means it did everything well from Point A to Point B...no muss, no fuss...easy to live with.  Nothing remarkable either way (except fuel economy).

Just a good commuter car.  And that's all most people want/need.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

They reviewed a regular, non-plug hybrid.

I know.

Regular non plug in hybrid can travel on battery power alone.  For example, the Prius/Camry/Corolla can power away up to ~40mph on battery alone before the engine kicks in.

I was also able to do this in the GS450h up until 40-50km/h or so.....

i'm not sure about speed, but i think the range is only like 5 km?...they talked about during the solar panel talk...if you only drive 3.5 kms to work, you can theoretically drive on electric power, then let the roof recharge the battery while you are there, then drive home on charge the sun gave you for free...as i said though, theoretically..clouds, type of driving conditions, etc all come into play.

Yea..it's never far.  The more interesting (for me) is how fast you can go before the engine kicks on.

I suppose out of curiosity I'd try this once or twice, but is there any practical reason to have such option?

Bumper to bumper traffic, city crawling, etc No need to fire up the engine if you're just toodling around IMO...

I saw one of these on the road yesterday.  Definitely not easy on the eyes.  Looks like a catfish.  I don't think this is a design that will age well at all.

I saw one on the road briefly, its not my favorite looking sedan but IMO a whole lot better on the eyes than, say, a Toyota Camry or Honda Civic. At least Honda is fixing their problem with the upcoming version.

Seen a couple, as I mentioned somewhere before. For (much) better looks I'd buy a Kia K5, still waiting to see one live. Although just as I've complained for the 100's time, Kiundai is still beating the dead horse trying to fit a regular stepped automatic into a hybrid powertrain, and once again it disappoints. The Sonata side view is beautiful, imho.  It flows nicely from the front end to the rear spoiler.  Fight me.  lol

I actually like the rear and that side profile looks pretty decent. The front is terrible, worse in person than in pictures. Not easy on the eyes.
