I never warmed up to this generation SHO.  The V8 was an underperformer and the looks, well, exterior design wasn't Job 1 at Ford.

No mention of the serious issues with the cam sprockets? I'd make sure the sprockets were welded to the cams.

The SHO we've found is a 1999 model. It's for sale in Etobicoke, by the original owner. It has just 102,000 km on the odometer over the years, and the owner says that all of the service was done at the same Ford dealer. There was an issue with some of these V8s that saw the camshaft and timing gear detached, and this owner has had them welded together, which is the usual fix to help prevent that issue. Since 16-inch wheels are looking a touch small these days, this one has 17-inch alloys fitted. Though the stock ones come with should you want the original look.

It's in there.

I was pretty disappointed with this generation Taurus. The blobby styling and largely carry over drivetrains were pretty underwhelming, as were the lack of manual and little improvement in power output in spite of going to a V8.

Meh.

I worked at Ford when these came out. A whole lotta meh, slushbox only, the R&R for sparkplugs was over 10 hours, slow, uglier than a land mine wound. It was a sorry replacement for the previous one and in no way an improvement.
Lighten up Francis.....

Same time I worked at a Ford dealer! The ONE thing I liked about this gen SHO was the sound, they sounded amazing. Other than that they kinda sucked. We raced a brand new one with a traded in 94 SHO auto and the old car ate it alive.

They did sound awesome....but did not have the firepower to back it up.

I checked the times from old SHO to V8 SHO

0-60 6.8 (V6 SHO)
0-60 7.5 (V8 SHO)

Not as bad as I thought it would be....

This thread has me looking for used 2011+ SHO's again. Lotsa power stock with great mod potential all wrapped in a RCMP cruiser like body, a recipe for stealth speed!

I'd much rather the Lincoln version.  Interior is much nicer place to be.  Not sure about the exterior though!

Neither are very attractive....I give a slight edge to the Taurus. Lincoln interior FTW for sure.

Manual?
I test drove a SHO when they first came out and Donnelys Ford got one in. Silver with a black leather interior. Manual.
IIRC it had a great 2nd gear.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?
