"The Alltrack could theoretically tow up to 1,500 lb if properly equipped, but doing so would void the warranty. Needless to say, it is not advised."

So it has a towing rating but doing so voids the warranty??

I've seen a bunch. Not as many as the new Tiguan or Atlas, but they aren't uncommon.

The fuel economy is not all that great, might as well get a full size pickup...  :hide:

Even better economy if it has those famous Hercules tires.

I see a bunch of these. Though probably 1 for every 4 golf wagons. Which makes sense since we only got the top trim.

The article says 1.5cm taller than the regular Sportwagen. If that's true it hardly seems worth it. 1.5 inches maybe.

Yeah, it's inches. 0.9 inches of suspension travel and slightly taller tires.

What isn’t intuitive, is that engaging the Tiptronic shifting mode requires the driver to move the gear selector away rather than towards you. Selecting a higher gear requires you to push forward and reverse for lower – which is unintuitive and curious. Paddle shifters are mounted on the steering wheel, but they are small and feel cheap in an otherwise high-quality cabin.

My GTI works the same way and never found it a problem, never even thought about it until read this article. Also, who would use the shifter to change gears when you have paddles on the steering wheel. Even if they do feel cheap.

Paddles weren't available until the 2018 MY.  My TDI doesn't have it. So, for me that complaint is valid.  I drives me nuts.

Agree, without paddles I would also be complaining.

That interior looks dated, and drab... I was never into VW products, too boring, except the GTi of course.

I think it lacks some key features at that trim level too.

Disagree that it looks dated and drab.  It's also very functional and feels reasonably upscale.

Agree that it's missing a few things, heated steering wheel being one of them.  But, it was first released in 2013 and the market has moved to more standard features since then.

I really appreciate VW interiors now. Everything is easy to find and control.

I find most other interiors to be unnecessarily cluttered if not down right juvenile.
