Looking for a family car with budget <20K
« on: February 23, 2019, 07:10:55 am »
Looking to get a small family car, it gotta be AWD and priced below 20K. I have been eyeing for TLX2015 and I am almost certain to get that car. I can get a decent millage (60-70K) with opening price of around 20K.

Your thought please... Thanks

Thanks, do you mind spelling out the reason why it is a great choice?

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Errmm maybe because there's better option such as Q50? thats what I have been reading about in this forum or maybe I should get an SUV instead? Any input will be appreciated.

Have you driven this TLX yet? What other cars have you test driven?

Frankly my life never revolve around luxury Japanese and I have not test drove TLX before. I have been driving X3 F25, F10 520i and 328i F30. Tried G30 for the weekend and it was awesome...

Well don't you think you should. Nobody here will know if you like the car.

You should buy a SUV....no point in buying a sedan with a limited trunk.

Much better value with a sedan.  What kind of SUV is he going to get with 20k?  If he is looking at "luxury" sedans as a starting point?

You both are right, i was looking for an SUV and at that price I am getting a CRV or Mazda cx4.

For SUV I am eyeing for explorer/MDX/X3 but unfortunately they are in 27k ish.

I am going to test drive the car, but i think test driving a car around the block for 10 mins will not say much.

It’s a freaking Lexus RX.  You’ll die before it does.
Yep!

How about the running cost though? Will MDX gives me a better running cost?

No way.  The RX is solid.  If I was looking for an SUV.  It be be top near the top of my list.  2nd gen CX-5 would be 1st.  Mostly because of fuel economy.  The Canadian plant where the RX is made is great, and the RX runs on regular!

Many people say that Lexus has a pretty expensive maintenance and also I prefer MDX’s interior compared to RX.

But guys really make me consider RX though

Lexus IS 250 AWD.  Private sale,  10-12K; keep the rest of the money for maintenance and repairs if needed.
