I have the General Grabber AT2 on the Highlander as it's summer tire.  They're great on the forest service roads and "roads" in BC used to access trail heads.  A couple of summers ago we had to go up some kinda gnarly trails in the Height of the Rockies and we had a convoy of vehicles and my "wimpy softroader" was one of the only vehicles that didn't suffer tire issues.

But on the pavement, if you're at all concerned about noise, you will regret an AT-style tire.  Going with a regular all season is a much saner idea.  And as they've worn, they've gotten louder, omg.

I've had two sets of General tires, the Grabbers and the Altimax snow tires.  The Altimaxes are for sure not up to the performance of the Blizzaks I've got now, but overall they were very acceptable.

Have your tried PMC?

I hadn't.  I always forget about them.  The two that come up are the Kumho Solus ta11 and the Cooper Evolution HT.  Both are more than the APX, and I am not sure how much better they will be.

Check out Quattro tires too...some really good prices there.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

They have the Destination LE for $122

The also have the General Altimax RT43 for $104.  It's a well regarded tire.  But in my head I'd like to have an SUV/Truck tire for the (perceived) durability.

Firestone Destination came on the pick up
I had about 120,000 km on them when I switch to Michelin Defenders
I used them all year round, never had any problems in the snow

Kijiji for the win.

I found a set of basically new (300km) Michelin Premier LTX on rims for the same price as the APX's, not including the $100 should get for the wheels.

Sweet!!! Can't beat Kijiji sometimes! I picked up my winters on there with only 1000kms on them at the most! 3rd winter on them & I figure I've got 2 or 3 more no problem.

yea, the way some people flip cars nowadays, you are likely to find some decent tires/wheels for a fair price.

He'd just bought them for his Santa Fe and it died shortly afterwards.

Awesome! I hope I can find a good deal on Kijiji as well, I really don't want to spend much money on another set of tires. Was also contemplating running the Blizzaks in the warm season, all two months of it.

I had the Premier LTX's installed yesterday.

Such a nice tire.  Quiet, smooth, not too soft.  The Tire Rack conclusion is that they set the new benchmark for an SUV/CUV tire.  I can see why.

I'll keep an eye on the wear, but at ~5000km (at most) over the summer I am not too worried.

After selling the rims they came on the total cost for the tires (minus installation) was $400.  Considering they only had a few hundred km on them, I am quite pleased.

I was looking at those , but decided to go with the Defenders , a lot people on Clublexus complained they did not last long

If they made the Defender LTX in my size I would have preferred them.

But for the price I am happy with the Premiers.
