it's pricey, but certainly looks good.

I'm impressed with all the recent offerings from Volvo. The Chinese owners are doing well.

Lovely car, although as mentioned, I'd take the V60. Not in love with sedans; used to hatches and wagons.

Also, probably wise to forego the R package. Ratchets up the price unnecessarily for a car that's not intended to be sporty. Actually just built one on the site, the Momentum + Vision pack, came out to 60 k€ TTC.

It's nice to see Volvo crank out good products with the infusion of cash, yet with owners that let Volvo still be Volvo.

Looking forward to checking these (S and V) at the car show. Happy that somebody still makes a wagon not on stilts.

it's pricey, but certainly looks good.

But is it pricey? Seems to be aligned with its competition. Or is it that we still think Volvo should be cheaper than the competition?

just in general...it's a $65k sedan...seems a bit pricey for a double blown 2.0L engine...but as i said, it does look good, and that goes a long way today.

I'm honestly not trying to pick a fight with you, just general discussion and you brought it up.

I think the S/V60 pricing is almost $ to $ with the Audi A4 and BMW 330. So are all these cares just expensive in general?

I think part of the problem is Volvo doesn't have the S/V40 in our market to fill in the gap below the S/V 60's.

Ever price out the S/V90? I remember seeing them at the TO auto show last year and they were more expensive than the Porsche Macan right next door to it.

it likely is "on par" for the segment...it's not a segment i shop in, so it may just seem expensive to me, that's all.

i like the XC40, and it's high 40s reasonably well equipped (can dip low 50s too).

never looked at them too seriously, but then the V90 is quite a bit larger than a Macan (which i also like).

There's been a lot of price creep in this segment in recent years. The base models are still in the ballpark that they used to be in, but they now offer options that mean you can approach $70k for relatively small four cylinder premium sedan.

It's how car companies can turn a profit. Kind of like airlines.......they can't raise base fares but they can make everything cost extra.

Given how good the XC40 is (at its reasonable price point), I'd love to see the V40 here, but I understand there's just not the room in the market for both with so many people demanding SUVs these days.  Stupid consumers.  ;)

Got a loaner S90 the other day. (broken windshield, rock induced at 3600 km on my V60  :-[) From the driver seat, absolutely no difference from my V60. Unless you need extra knee room on second row, going 90 vs the new 60 is a wate of money.

Saw what I thought was an S90 with a temp permit coming towards me, then realized it was actually an S60. This thing looks great in person.

The S60 looks great.  Dollar for dollar it seems to have more equipment than the competitors.   But as the article says.... unless you’re a committed sedan guy, there’s no way one should pick this over the V60.
