very late to the market with this, and it won't even make a dent

just yet another of a sea of samey compact crossovers
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Agreed. Too late, the new car market is cooling.

But the plasticky front end will make it right at home at the airport rental counter. And that interior is cheap looking, a sea of black plastic in my opinion.....

i guess it looks, ok...but $65k??...it's built on the same platform as the Malibu and Regal.

To be fair, this is the fully loaded model.  A base price of $46 is more in line with the competitors.

That's a great review!  And extra kudos to whomever took the photos.  They were well done and comprehensive.  Particularly the daylight and dusk shots (that showed off the lighting).

The loaded price is in line with the competitors too.

I'd take this over the X1, the Merc and the Audi. Would be a toss up over this and the XC-40, as I think they're the best lookers of the class! I actually like this... doubt I'd ever be in the market for one, but Bella would look good behind the wheel of one

Drove the XC40.  Not impressed at all.  Would rather have a Ford Escape.

The X1 was a blast, however.

Oh boy, that's not good praise for the XC40  :-\

but should cadillac be pricing their cars at their competition level, when the brand "cadillac" means less and less to people?

also, isn't this the same size class and CRV/Rav4 ? compact SUV?

granted, the photo looks wonderful, and maybe it is a fantastic car that would last forever and retain it's quality over its life, but given it's GM, i kinda doubt that.   drivetrain may last long time, everything else?

I totally agree, if you're gonna buy a wankerific compact CUV, at least make it look half good.

Tough crowd.  :-*  I think it's hard to make a small 2-box CUV look distinctive, but I think Caddy did a better than fair job here of making it look sharp and upscale.  And I dig the shade of paint on the tester.  If there's a class of vehicle that really needs to break the cycle of 50 shades of grey, it's this one.

Good point. I suspect a lot of people don't consider Cadillac a competitor to brands like Lexus, BMW, MB etc etc...... I know I don't. There is just too much GM peeking out from under the veneer.

Man, if only Suzuki had stuck around and brought the Swift, next-gen SX4, and that little beast over...

ok, but...to me, this doesn't look like $65k:

if i was shopping in the premium segment, this looks much better IMO, and is $20k less:

the mood lighting isn't my thing, but is an option on a few vehicles nowadays...but i'm not talking about mood lighting (that's $200 worth of LEDs)...i'm talking about premium looking dual panel instrument display (similar to the S-Class), the brushed aluminum trim bits (maybe it's plastic, i don't know, but it still looks better than the sea of black in the caddy, and this MB can be optioned in other colour choices too)...as i said, i don't think the Caddy is terrible, it just doesn't look like a $65k interior to me...if you said this was the top trim Encore at $35k, i'd likely feel the same way about it, but would understand it's likely fine for the price.

The new A-class interior is supposed to be very nice, especially considering the starting price is in the $30s.
