Saw that coming. The RAV hybrid will easily outsell the various gas only trims once production meets demand.

If they price the Prime right (and no reason to expect they won’t) then the Prime and plain Hybrid models will probably combine to be sales leaders for Toyota in terms of overall sales of Toyota can produce enough.

The Prius is still a strong seller for a fairly niche product, and with the other hybrid sales, Toyota is selling a hell of a lot of vehicles with batteries and electric motors.

The redesign was not well accepted, driving to a sales slump...the current generation was too weird for most current Pri owners.

Funny, coz it's partly true  :rofl2:

While the powertrain was as always a gradual improvement, the exterior design was a train wreck, IMO, when compared to the previous gen, although it's got a little better with a recent refresh.

In case of the hybrid RAV not only its price premium over the ICE one is moderate but another thing going for it is a big improvement in FE, again, compared to the previous gen.

I think the prius deserves more credit.  Its basically the  vehicle that embedded confidence in Consumers with hybrids technology and bridging toward full electric. It literary changed the game.  Taxi companies noticed, didn't have to buy big American guzlers.  Now that hybrid powertrain are used throughout different models and brands it only makes sense their selling numbers are less.   Kind of victim of their own success.
