Yeah, that thing looks really clean, at least from pictures.  You'll have to lift it up and see if there's any rot on the underside...if there isn't well, it would be a shame to take out the drivetrain and junk the body.

Find another donor car for the engine!!!

Neat! Congratulations Arthur!

I had a 1993 Tercel. 80hp of fighting fury. :)

Reliable as an anvil and just as sophisticated. Ran it up to somewhere around 350k kms before the body rot got just too severe. The front buckets fit me better than any car I had before or since.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Cool! The Sport Tercel's are rare. Always thought this gen Tercel was a decent looking car.

when i met my wife, she had a '98 Tercel...not much in terms of fancy stuff in it, but it was a great car.

Assuming it's not rotten I'd have a hard time pulling that car apart. I would however drive that over the Civic any, so I like your wife's thinking.  :)

If your wife drives the Tercel, couldn't you take the Civic drivetrain and put it in the Innocenti?

I'm assuming it's a little 4th gen civic?

Yeah the Civic is a slushbox which gives two problems:

1 - I don't want an auto
2 - The automatic gearboxes are physically much larger and it would not physically fit in the tiny engine bay in the Innocenti.

The Civic only has 167k kms on it but other than engine/tranny it is quite rough.

So I parked it in the garage overnight. The temperature also increased. I discovered the Tercel smells of a farm ... strongly! The engine also had (or has) an oil leak. The whole interior was sticky and gross.

I still need to give the under carriage another clean. It smells better now. Paint looks nice when wet. I bet with a buff it would come out nice.

It obviously had (or has) an oil leak. The whole passenger side was covered in oil. Lots of clean up. I fiddled with the valve cover a bit. Hopefully that is fixed. If not I can hopefully spot the source now.

Seats are still a little stained but looking (and smelling) better with a good clean. Floor mats were super gross with some sort of farm animal poop.

Oh and its a 1996.

Far too nice to use as a donor...

Could find a similar powertrain in a Toyota Echo..

You need a Tornador with all the cleaning you do. Would take the stain out of that seat in 5 seconds...and no, I'm not exaggerating.

I bet the valve cover gasket is the culprit for your oil leak. Common on those cars.

It's amazing...might be able to find a knock off...but I bought a genuine.

It is still bloody cold here. -33C this morning but warmed slightly so I went in the garage for a bit.

So much farm related mud cake on everything on the Tercel. On the plus side I checked the front brakes and they are close to new pad wise.

The front shocks seem decent, the rear seem a little soft.
