Isn't the 370Z right in line power wise?  Definitely long in the tooth, but pretty compelling comparison with a nicely equipped MSRP of $34

That's true.

First off I'm certainly not shopping for one of these...but
I'm with most here, questioning reliability and would prefer an all Toyota DNA kinda vehicle.

However, one has to wonder how many people would find it a positive if the salesman says that it's using BMW components... might actually end up sounding like a selling point and a an improvement for many.

You guys are arguing about a car you likely can't buy until the 2021s are released anyway, I'm sure all the 2020s aloted for Canada have been sold.

If the Toyota Group had the ability and resources to design and build the Lexus LFA, you’d think they wouldn’t need to go to BMW for a drivetrain...

Sometimes the partners automakers choose for their projects puzzles me...

Regardless of what everyone here thinks of the new Supra,

This is the Ad that Toyota is leading with on YouTube.  I think it does a pretty good job.  Who knew their CEO actually drove the old Supra around the Nürburgring?

Another important question to ask is that will the engine in this supra gain the legendary status of thr 2JZ. Can it get 700+hp reliably.

I'm thinking Toyota did some longevity testing and that's why they de-tuned it from 385 to 335HP......

That is just great. The one big reason I'm such a fan of Japanese cars is the reliability through Engineering.

I agree with whoever said that a toyota called Supra cannot be a reskinned Z4. How About GT4 ?

they probably didn't wanna make a brand new I6 type engine.

there's only couple I6s still being make for automotive use, and BMW is known for it.

though, i do wonder why they detuned it to 340~ HP from bmw's 380...

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

All that work to preserve the inline six seems silly. Take a V8 from the Tundra - fiddle with the tuning and cam and you have a cool sports car motor.

Viewed from the side the Supra is nice looking but its a bit odd from the front and 3/4 rear.

Twin turbo V8 Supra would have definitely shut the naysayers up....I too find the BMW powertrain sketchy AF. Like someone said before, if they can build that technological marvel that was the LFA engine and the old 2JZ, shouldn't be that hard to find something in house to stuff into it.
Lighten up Francis.....

Won't be long until some gets a 4 banger version in the US and a 2JZ gets thrown in....

They already have a very nice 5L V8 that gets used in the RC/GS F models.
