Great 90's cars

Is it me, or have prices for 90's cars gone ridiculous.

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-japanesecars/-100k-supra/39387

Even old Impreza's and Lancia's are also going for silly money.  These will be the new Barrett Jackson lots once all the boomers are dead.  Once the Playstation generation has some spare cash and wants a toy from Gran Turismo.

Choosing a car based on reliability is like choosing a wife based solely because she is punctual. There is more to it than that...

Seems like the 90s is the new 60s. The 80s prices never went this nuts. In a lot of ways the 90s were a golden era. Lots of performance and reliability but still attractive styling and real cars (not all SUVs and CUVs!)

I'll take a FD Rx-7 and a Suzuki Cappuccino.

Neither was the Supra MKIV, but they've been imported from Japan (or USA in the case of the Supra)

Acura was killin it in the 90s. Toyota had both the MR2 and Supra as well as Celica lines. Mazda was rocking the world with the Miata and RX-7. Nissan gave ROW the Skyline and we got the great 300ZX.

The Japanese makers came out of the 80s ready to conquer the car world, and in many ways they did. Toyota ramped Lexus up. Sports cars were hot and no one made better ones. British cars were gone. The Germans didn't see what was hammering them. US cars were looking and feeling old. The Japanese were building reliable and fun cars with gadgets that worked, and worked forever.

This is why 90s Japanese cars are hot. They're well made. They're fun as hell. They're light and tossable and have thin pillars and are easy to drive and see out of.

WRONG.

The MKIV Supra was sold in Canada...

Interesting. Well I was only 11-14 years old when it was sold here.

The Suzuki Cappucino Arthurt Dent wants was never sold in Canada either.

It was kinda weird though...US got it from 93-98.

Canada was 94-97. Only a couple hundred Turbo were sold...and with an MSRP of $68k CDN, not terribly shocking IMO.

The Celica was sold here though...it was known as the AllTrac. The version we got here would be referred to at the ST185. The one in your photo is the ST 205...and made 250hp! Too bad it wasn't sold here. :(

*EDIT* Toyota was caught cheating with this car in WRC. Many people thought this was the most sophisticated cheat ever in motorsport up to that point. It's pretty crazy....you can read a great story about it here. https://jalopnik.com/how-the-best-racing-cheat-of-all-time-worked-1792828060

Funny, I've had the same thoughts lately and kept my eye on that car on BAT out of curiousitly to see what it would actually sell for.

Oh I know it wasn't sold here. Right hand drive would not bother me on something that small.

Yeah 90s is where its at! I love the era especially the racing. Rally touring cars F1 were all at the top of their game.

I bought my 97 Alfa and I blast Faith No More and Dream Theater all summer long.

You guys should come down to Radwood Philly with me next year. Especially Gurgie with his 951 and anyone else with 80s and 90s cars. Best car show I have ever been to.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I wish. This was when the car was current, my Uncle (the one you met) had one for a weekend and was visiting so I got to take it for a spin. Although I was looking at RC F's online today but again, not buying.
