Lexus SC400 was another great luxury coupe

Loved those cars.  They still look great.

You just knew I was going to pipe in when Chrysler products were mentioned.   ;D

Two American vehicles that no one has mentioned that I would love to have some day are the Dodge Vioer and Plymouth Prowler.

1997 Dodge Viper GTS

1999 Plymouth Prowler

The Prowler was a pooch until 1999 when horsepower climbed to 253 from 214.

1991 Dodge Spirit RT

3060 lbs - 214 hp.

One of my favourite Ferraris is the 355.

993 Turbo was (and is) my dream car.

The Prowler was always a styling exercise more than performance.

A guy I knew had a Dodge Ram that was some kind of special edition pace car edition, it was blue with dual white stripes, always thought that truck was cool.

Yeah, the 355 is gorgeous and always has been IMO.  One of the things that I always liked about the MR2 is that it always seemed to be like a mini Ferarri looks wise.  I see this picture of the 355 and see quite a number of similar styling queues  to my MR2.

I'd very much enjoy a 1998 BMW 540i - Manual.

I'd go 528 wagon for reliability.  But yeah, favourite generation of 5-Series for me.  Did that gen of wagon come with a manual?

Yes but only in the 525i and 528i versions.

I’d take an MR2 over a 355 unless I could sell the 355 and buy a bunch of other stuff with it. The MR2 will run everyday and not burn down.

I will give you the rest, but the Mercury Cougar is certainly a coupe...but it is in no way "sporty" Honestly a terrible driving experience from what I can remember. I shopped these when getting my first car, thought they looked kinda cool, and quickly ran the other way towards a Grand Prix.

I had a 1990 240SX SE lift back for a bit. Unfortunately rust killed it, but I really, really liked that car. As a kid I was fairly dismissive of the S13 because of the infamous "truck motor" but I ignored that it was RWD. It was such a fun car.

Being a gearhead teen during the 90s, the 911 Turbo, NSX, Skyline, Supra, RX7, GTO captured my imagination. Would love to have an R33 GT-R and an RX7, with a proper engine in it, in the garage.
Lighten up Francis.....

In the fall of 1989 we bought a 1990 Acura Integra.

There were so many cars that we shopped though!  The Miata, the 240SX, the RX-7, the Celica, even a 318 BMW wasn’t priced out of reach compared to those cars.

The two that really won us over were the Miata and the Acura. The Acura was just so amazing in terms of value. Even though it was FWD it still handled pretty well, and the build quality was amazing.

In the end we passed on the Miata as it was just too impractical. That’s one reason I longed for an NA, it was one of the “ones that got away.”

Interestingly, the MX-3 was a failure in the U.S. but was a huge sales success in Canada. I recall reading that it was the best selling "sports car" in Canada at one time, ahead of the Mustang. It was discontinued after 1995 in the U.S. (where the V6 had already been dropped after 1994), but continued on in Canada for a couple more years.

I almost bought the MX-3 in 1995, but then stumbled across a demo 1994 MX-6 sitting in the showroom at Erin Mills Mazda with only 900km on the clock that was priced substantially less than a new MX-3... so I ended up with the MX-6. That's the longest car I've ever owned actually, from June of 1995 to May of 2008.

My '91 240 SX LE was a peach of a car. Loved driving that thing. Some scary experiences on the highway in winter, though.   :o

Nice, the '91 facelift got the DOHC version of the engine so yours had a bit more power than mine. Too bad they never sold them here with the SR20DET turbo.

One girlfriend had an early nineties MX-3 V6. Interesting car with the 1.8L V6. That engine could sing and had too as all the power was waaay up top.  My parents had a 5 speed MX-6 (93 IIRC). Nice balanced car., almost a complete polar opposite to the overwrought angry designs of today.

My wife had a 1989 MX-6 (old style) turbo with AWS. That engine was an on-off switch while the all wheel steering really helped that car handle. As it got older she flipped it on my advice as the fuel tank was an integral part of the rear suspension. Big future bills with the AWS and all.
