Would have liked to hear a little about the AT version. I'm guessing that many (if not most) sold will be AT's.

It's a CVT. Many will tell you it's a good one, but in the end it's a CVT.

Well, might be OK for this application. Today's CVT's have come a long way from where they started. Anybody remember the Subaru Justy?  ;D

It's a CVT with a real first gear.  I'd wager in normal use you wouldn't be able to tell its a CVT at all.

Doesn't your daughter have a Rogue? It would have a CVT?
It's okay for your daughter but not for you. I get it. ;)

I can see this replacing our Civic, IF they bring AA to it.
AA?

Good that they caught it, and are taking swift action to remedy the issue. All makers goof, it’s their response to making it right that I really care about.

Happy to see there are more hatches available now.  Would be nice if more wagons became available.  A comparo in the spring would be really be great.  The new gen 2019 Mazda3, up against the pretty new 2019 Toyota Corolla, the great (but aging) VW Golf, the Civic, Cruze (maybe diesel), one of the Koreans, maybe the Elantra GT.  G

Tall order to fill, but I bet it would be a good read.

On a side note, it seems the Corolla hatchback does not have a sunroof?  Not really an issue for me.  But looking at a vehicle down the road for my wife, surprised I don't see it.  Maybe I missed it?

For all the CUV hype, there's actually a decent segment of compact sedans and hatches.  It's possible to spend $20-22K and get a lot of car!  You get a ton of safety features, surprisingly abundant convenience items and even some luxury touches. I'm so impressed that things like radar cruise and lane departure, etc, have made it into this segment and without adding much to the price.  It took a lot longer for ABS to creep down.

I read an article lamenting the rising cost of buying a new car with the average transaction now creeping close to $40K. The reality if that you can spend not much more than half that and get something very, very good. People are choosing to spend more, they're not facing a market forcing them to drop $40K. Not even close.

If GM wants to sell them, they better adjust their strategy.  Like the Koreans, 0% financing up to 10 years or whatever the hell it is.

The Cruze sedan which is/was built in Lordstown Ohio is discontinued. The Cruze hatch which is built in Coahuila Mexico is not discontinued.
