a well equipped car for $25k that would likely fit 75% of people's needs...factor in Toyota reliability, resale and low cost of ownership and you've got yourself a winner.

It is pretty nice. Quite an improvement compared to current the current Corolla model.

I wonder why they have to put in a black headliner in a small vehicle, just makes it feel smaller on the inside.

I notice they did this on the C-HR, which makes it even feel more claustrophobic when sitting in the back seat.  Hope it's not a trend as I don't like it.

I wonder if Toyota has any plans on doing a TRD version with forced induction of some sort (part of me hopes for the return of the super charged hot hatch).

Overall it's a very nice vehicle and I'd likely choose it over the Golf and Mazda3.  It would be a toss up with the Civic hatchback as I'm sure the Civic is a sportier drive and the added passenger/cargo space but I worry about the long term reliability and the Corolla is WAAAAY better looking to my eyes.

I like the color. Don't like the raked rear and the instrument panel (what's wrong with the symmetrical looks of two round analog gauges and the digital display in the middle)? Not too much storage space for little items in the front.

Other than that, nice little hatch if you can get it with a manual.

Your investment of about $24,000 for a Corolla Hatchback SE with Upgrade package gets you the works: radar cruise that’s confidence-inspiring, and works with the sort of consistent and forward-thinking smoothness as I often find in bigger-dollar machinery. A lane-departure alert system with steering assist. A back-up camera. Blind-spot monitoring. A great big touch-screen interface displayed proudly as the visual centrepiece of the dash. Automatic climate control. Wireless recharging for your phone. Heated seats. A full driver computer. A push-button parking brake. Apple CarPlay. Automatic and power accessories throughout, including automatic high-beams.

That's a lot of features for the money.  Well done Toyota.

Now, kindly bring it in a wagon version.

Still no Android Auto?!  Is this because Google and Toyota don't get along or is it a technical issue, or both?

it can't be a technical issue...most companies offer it...maybe Toyota is in deep with it's own system (Entune?) and just can't let go.

A shame. That looks really nice (Did I just say that about a Corolla ?).

CarPlay and Auto runs on the same QNX system, very weird it won’t support both.

The official position is that Toyota had privacy concerns with Google. However there were reports in September that they may have come to their senses and will add it but not official word so far.

Just like that.  And AWD Hybrid wagon.  That would really make me regret getting the Golf.

The privacy concerns are valid. I can't recall the details but Google basically wants access to everything.

I can see this replacing our Civic, IF they bring AA to it.

Why would Toyota have concerns and dozens of other manufacturers would not?

Would have liked to hear a little about the AT version. I'm guessing that many (if not most) sold will be AT's.
