Again, this won't be bought by traditional truck buyers. Truck buyers will continue buying half tons and mid-sizers like the Tacoma and Ranger.
This will be bought by people who previously had a CUV, and like the 'appearance' of the Santa Cruz. They've likely never owned a truck, and will have no need for a truck, but they'll see this thing as giving them the 'image' of a truck owner, but it will drive exactly like the CUV that they're trading in, and it will be easy to park in their garage and at the grocery store.
I imagine this will be sold to a lot of people who will be remaining 'in-brand'. I.E. Hyundai and Kia owners trading in their current Tucsons and Kona's, were pleased with the experience, and want another Hyundai.
