not a fan personally, but if that's what people are asking for, you can't blame them for making it.

i'll have to wait and see a production model...it doesn't look right to me...seems more like an exercise in design rather than actually being a practical truck.

This debuts April 15: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2022-hyundai-santa-cruz-pickup-truck-teaser/

Seems to be quite small since it's based on the Tucson. Will be interesting to see whether or not the market accepts it.

hmmm...interesting option...if it's based on the Tucson platform, it's should be smaller than a Ridgeline...perhaps a revival of the small trucks from the 80s and 90s (the Nissan, Ranger, S10, etc)...the bed looks kind of small, but if you just want a small truck, i could see people buying it...the current gen of small trucks are basically the same size as full size units were 20 years ago.

I think these "small" trucks will sell well, as long as they keep the price within CUV territory.

Someone could cross shop this or a Ford Maverick with a compact CUV like a RAV4, CRV, Tucson, Escape, Rogue, etc....

And here it is. Looks like a Hyundai which means it's... fine.

Bed is 4'3" long and 4'6" wide. Offers two 2.5 engines: NA with 191 hp, turbo with 281 hp. AWD seems to be standard.

Or a budget Ridgeline. That "bed" is utterly useless, can't haul a decent sized chunk of lumber, a bike, a quad.....the hell is the point?!?!?
Lighten up Francis.....

Its a nice looking rig. The rest of vehicle to bed size ratio makes no sense. You can't even pop a single bicycle in the bed.

I'm sure it'll hold a big diaper bag.

while it's not for me, i could see it being popular...it's not really a "Truck", there's plenty of options out there if you want one of those...think of it more like a compact crossover with an open hatch...it's similar in size to a mid 90s S10/Ranger...i think that's a good thing...trucks have got so big nowadays, there isn't any "little trucks" left.

Who is this for?

Redondo beach crowd looking to haul (short) boogie boards, beach ball and a cooler?

I dunno.   But I don't mind the look.   The digital instrument cluster is a disaster though.   I'm not one of those pitchfork-wielding death-to-tacked-on-ipad types, but that seems like exceptionally lazy design.

I think the bed will hold a bike with the tailgate down, won't it?
