Back to the Gladiator, I watched a couple of reviews on Youtube and the thing looks really great! I bet Jeep will have no trouble at all selling every single one they make.

The JL is flying out the door, so this, this will just in bring more people. I'm a Jeep guy but if I wanted a Jeep truck till now it would have meant to restore a Comanche, Gladiator, M715, CJ8 or buy some 1/2 ton from someone else. This should sell like hot cakes...still needs a V8 though tabernak.

Nah, the V6 will be plenty for most people, and if you want a little more oomph, then you can get the available diesel.

The V6 is ok, just that, ok. As for the diesel....yeah, no. The Italians have their fingers in that pie so that can only end in tears.

Isn't it the same 3.0L diesel that's in the Ram Ecodiesel?  That thing has been out for a few years now, and I haven't heard any horror stories, so it can't be all bad.

Ask me 6 years ago I would've been offended. My kids think it's weird though.

Yup, same one that's been in the Ram & JGC... I haven't ready any horror stories recently. I know when they first came out there were issues with the CAT's & the DEF, but I haven't seen or heard much since. Mine has been fine so far... knock on wood  ;D

I know someone who rented or borrowed one and it died on the Coquihalla Highway, towing an MX-5.

Ok fine, all cars break down. I passed a late 90s Camry broken down on the highway.

I saw a new Camry being towed today...just off the parking lot from where I work.

heh... too true.

as for the ecodiesel... meh, it's not a problem... more that people who don't know diesels get into them and treat them like a gas vehicle... but that first year, they hadn't figured out the correct oil either, so that was an issue... they were suggesting they went 16k between oil changes, without having a correctly testing engine oil. not good. we had a couple blow. most of the issues have been pretty normal though.. people pushing limits on oil changes, towing 3k over the rating, short city drives and idling a lot... those peoples trucks/jeep have more issues. even those people tend to want another ecodiesel next though.

look at it this way...trucks hold their value...Jeeps hold their value...a Jeep Truck will likely appreciate in value...it's the FCA version of a Buick Envision. ;D
