Maybe, maybe not. They also had to extend the wheelbase to accomplish this.
The suicide door versions are, from the sounds of it, hand built. Production costs of hand build cars don't scale well.
I'd love to get a Continental as a used car. I think they look terrific.
They'd lose way more sales because of the suicide doors. People don't really like "weird".

They're distinct from the production line.
