A friend of mine who runs a livery fleet has had a couple of them for the last ~ 2 years. The attraction for him is the enormous amount of rear seat legroom i.e. transverse engine and a 117-118" wheelbase, it's probably got as much legroom as the BMW 7 series. Base engines for livery not the tt. The door locks seem to be an ongoing issue though. First the rear passenger side door got jammed and needed a number of visits to the dealer and then the driver's door got jammed and that needed a number of visits to the dealer, not sure if the issue has been completely resolved. In general this seems to be a Ford problem i.e. they do not change/modify components even after problems are found in them e.g. the HVAC airflow modules of the Town Car failed repeatedly and had to be replaced. But inspite of producing that car for aeons, Ford never modified those modules until the very end when production of the Town Car stopped.

7-8 years is a long time?  ???

For driving a Taurus?

Would seem like a prison term....
i had my Taurus for 10 years...it wasn't that bad.

Strange the website is not saying it's sold any more, maybe the few hits I generated from my post made it say sold for some reason.

In a awesome turnaround, the car wasn't sold and my friend is now the proud owner of a 2017 Lincoln Continental.... I am definitely  a bad influence when it comes to car buying.  Delivery will be happening tomorrow and I will send along pics on his behalf!

Awesome!  Keep us posted on how it performs in terms of reliability, etc., if you are able.

Sweet! So what kind of deal did he get?

He's not the stickler for pricing details I am but in a nutshell he traded in the Taurus and is driving away in the Continental for $49,900 out the door everything in including winter wheels and tires.  He's happy with it, I think they gave him $10K for the Taurus on trade.  The Continental is an awesome 400 HP machine, can't wait to sit in the back and put up the privacy glass just for fun!  The independent leg supports have to be the coolest option I have ever seen.

Nicest interior in domestic car.  Period.  A nice place to spend time, that's for sure.

I had to read up on this feature. Seems pretty cool.

You can adjust each thigh separate to each other.

Can sorta see it in this pic.

Nice!
I just want extra thigh support. It doesn't even have to be adjustable individually.

Watching Dougies video...I want.  Too bad I'm not 30 so in 10 yrs I could pick one up for $8500.  Looks like a comfy place to spend time in.

My friend dropped by with the Continental today and I took it for a quick spin.  I am not sure how any seats could ever be more comfortable, I really don't think it's possible.  You could get into the power using the paddle shifters, clearly it is tuned for comfort but using the paddles you could make it move really well for a large car.  The interior looks really great, lots of space, huge sunroof, not sure about the push button shifter thing but I'm sure you get used to it.  It looks elegant outside, I think it's absolutely beautiful.  Funny enough you can't get mud flaps for it which annoyed my friend a bit but I told him to get over it since it takes away from the look of the vehicle.  I think for someone like him that enjoys large domestic sedans this is about as good as it gets!

I absolutely love these modern luxury American land speed boats. Always have and wish I could sport one but my wife would divorce me before I could finish the sentence with the words "Lincoln Continental" in it. And unfortunately, it wouldn't even fit in the garage beside the Odyssey.

well, the likely great thing about this car is you can likely find a mint condition used one in a few years for pennies on the dollar...the Taurus i had before my Rio5 was $33k++  brand new...i got it 18 months old with 33k kms on it for $18k all in...basically half the price in 18 months...still had the rest of the warranty and it was actually a pretty decent car for me (in terms of reliability)...only put 2 sets of brakes, a tune up (timing belt, spark plugs, etc) and a set of tires and i had it 10 years.
