I'm a Porsche guy, but this car is just

If I had the cash for a multiple car fleet... this would definitely be one in the stable! I like the size, the power, handling & the the manual!! Closest thing to the E46 M3, which for me is the holy grail of the M cars  ;D

Wouldn't the Mustang and the Camaro SS also be competitors to this thing or would they make it look so silly for so much more money its not nice to bring them up?? Its a great old school, proper BMW, but $80k, get the f$%k out of here.
Lighten up Francis.....

The newest issue of Road & Track has a comparison between this and the Camaro SS 1LE. The straight line performance is fairly similar, and the BMW is faster in the 1/4 mile but the Camaro is faster after that.

Personally I'd gladly pay $80k for one.

I wish BMW offered the no cost option to delete the whole iDrive system and install the lightweight M Performance seats. Then I'll be interested !  ;)

Something important to note though is that the M2 they tested was an automatic and that would definitely have made a difference in the straight line acceleration test and the 1/4 mile run.

If I had the money I'd likely pick this over the Camaro (or the Mustang for that matter) as I prefer a bit more luxury than pure performance.  Sure the exhaust note is no where as good but I think I'd probably be happier day to day in the BMW.

The manual is likely slower.

Base to base the price difference is more like $17k. And the BMW has a ton of features that make it more comparable to the 2SS model which is another $6k or so.
