Also why M2 competition. Does regular M2 not start in the $70K range? Even the regular M2 with RWD and stick would be a wonderful driving car.

No more regular M2 for 2019.

2018 M2 is $65,200, 2019 M2 Comp is $71,250.

Unless you're getting a great deal on a 2018, the Competition is a no-brainer.

The options list is pretty sparse anyways. DCT, sunroof, upgraded stereo are the big items.

Jesus didn't realize that. Great deal for $71K and I'd go more base for that raw feeling!

Same here. They are a sought after commodity. Pretty much pay MSRP...they didn't even offer > 3 year leases on these such is the demand. Great car.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Thankfully the Competition model is putting pressure on used M2 prices.

The dealer in Moncton has a leftover 2018 M2 that stickers for over $90k because it has a bunch of M accessories. It's $9k more than a 2019 Competition that they also have in stock. Ouch. https://www.bmwmoncton.com/new/BMW/2018-BMW-M2-9bd9e04d0a0d0c141d9242ebaa03cd93.htm

Just checked Autotrader country wide for 2017 240's and there aren't many out there. There's one with 18k kms on it, asking $45k. The one you're looking at is $52k on there, it was originally listed for $56k over 6 weeks ago.
http://bit.ly/2zDFwFj

So if you're saying it was originally $62k plus taxes, they're down $10k in advertised price, but might still add freight & PDI to that $52k. I'd try to get it for $48 - $50k all in (plus taxes) with the sport exhaust, extra warranty & a set of winters on alloys.

Thanks, original sticker was $59k plus freight and PDI and fees so about $62K, add in the performance exhaust and you are around $64K.  They are taking $9K off that total so it's at about $55K now before tax.

So maybe try to get it for $52k plus taxes? With the sports exhaust & winter wheels/tires? That would be $12k off and then the winters would be worth ~$2k as well.

That's what they're worth... not what they'd charge!  :P

Might not be able to lease a 2017 at this point.

No leasing option, just a five year purchase but rate is decent 1.9%.  I would like to wait and get an RS3 in the spring but that is more money of course.

Ignoring all the other possibilities and going between the 2017 and 2019, I'd 100% choose the 2017.  Honestly, I think you're overstating the used price difference that will exist down the road, and the 2017 will end up being a LOT less expensive to own.  It's basically the same car for a lot less dough.

A loaded M2 Competition stickers for about $80k.

Not in Alberta.

What does that mean? That's the sticker price, period.

It means that 2 dealers locally have them for $91K including ADM and taxes.

Sticker price is what is on the manufacturer’s window sticker.

You will pay $91K for the car I describe. Unless you can magically make the taxes disappear.

You sound like my 9 year old.  Okay, you win.  Now go to bed.

Neither are AWD so won't be considered.

The more I look at reviews and think about it, I think an Audi S4 or RS3 next spring would be a better option.  The 2017 240i is nice but a two year old model at this point with one year of its warranty ticked away sitting in the lot.  I like the idea of four doors as well since I still have two kids at home.  But you know I change my mind often as you all know.

Double negatives can be confusing. ;D

Want to try again?

However, AWD is not necessary in wintry conditions.

Ya, bad typing on my part. Not much sleep last night.

However, I thought AWD was a condition for Hammy.

Yes we do a lot of winter driving and our winters are quite terrible, so I have AWD as a requirement.  Almost everything here comes in AWD anyway.
