No, the manual isn't the $42k model - it's more at $45,500. The base model is AWD, automatic, with quite an extensive list of standard equipment.
ok, forgot it wasn't the base model...either way, my point stands...they shouldn't have had it advertised like that...it makes it look like the 3.3T model starts at $42k, which it doesn't.
When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

^fair enough... will give you a point for that... plus I saw you on a repeat of Motoring TV yesterday so you get an extra thumbs up for being on TV

:rofl2: I feature way too prominently in that piece. For those who want to judge (no one will judge me more harshly than myself!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=U-xXeazkxtQ&ab_channel=MotoringTV

I saw that repeat as well and saw ya and you were pro.  ;D

You won't be needing much marketing effort to move the incoming SUVs.   Might think about a pull out couch for your office to help pass the day.   Those units will fly out of the compound or wherever you folks keep them.  :rofl2:  There is a MEGA demand for "reasonably" priced "luxury" SUVs in the urban centers.   Prices for the  X5, MB GLE, and XC90, with the driver aids packages, are ridiculous.

LOL, Matt Farah and Doug Demuro discussed (briefly) the whole manual vs auto with the big/small engine.  I just thought it was funny, given the shitshow we just went through here.

Why they put all the effort into cars first was a mystery, but the Hyundai article explained it, car-centric management that resisted the shift to SUV's

The Genesis G70 Is a Good Car, But Who’s Buying?

Well I would venture nobody is BUYING, but rather leasing.  You can see that in the leasing rates @ 1.4% for 60 months!   In this country I think moving these type of sport sedans is a really rough go.

The lease rate is pretty reasonable now and for $500/month including tax for the base, I'd try it out if I was in the market for a compact luxury sport sedan.

I suspect most people would pay ~$100 more per month for a BMW 3 series.

Don't see where one would lease a Base unit (2.0T /AWD/ auto/ 48 mth) for $500/mth even with the $1K down  ???

UNLESS, you are looking at 5 years @ 16000km annually with $1K down.  ::)

Regardless, it just illustrates that they can't move these units as projected regardless of incentives.  They are 3 years too late.

Alas, that's probably true. Too bad, really, since the product is solid. The CUV can't come soon enough. Every month Hyundai waits it loses big time $$. Plus the competition isn't standing still. By the time the new CUV/SUV goes on sale, the rapid technological advancements make new models obsolete much sooner than before. Mainstream brands are closing the gap with the luxo brands making selling a luxo newcomer tougher by the day. That puts more downward pressure on pricing which sucks for Hyundai because it wants to move upscale with the Genesis brand.

I would definitely check out the new Genesis CUV but I'm afraid it will be too late.

I've only seen the G70 twice in flesh in Ottawa. I was hoping to see a lot more.

Probably. Not terrible to do with Genesis considering it has a five year warranty and five years of maintenance is included.

The Genesis 5 year paid maintenance appears disingenuous.   All it covers are oil changes every 12K km or one year.  If you drive more than that in 1 year you pay.  No charge air filter and cabin filter, but couldn't find interval.  May have read this incorrectly, but paint was covered for only 3 years.  Battery 2 years.  I could be wrong, but they are SCANT with the details.  Hyundai offers the same 5 year warranty.  Customers are still on the hook for all wear items; brakes, tires, wipers et al.

The sweet spot in leasing is 3 years/60 mths.  That way it's oil changes and nothing else.  If you run snows then the original all seasons on the vehicle will pass the lease return inspection.  If you lease a vehicle with a 4 year comp warranty like Acura/VW then 4 year lease is fine.  But if the lease is with the D3, Toyota, Honda, et al then 3 years is the charm.

Speaking of leases, today my son turned his 2017 RDX, 54600km, with 18 mths remaining on a 48 mth/80K km term for a 2019 MDX Tech in pearl white ($500) for $698.64 mth/48/80k km.  That's what you get for high residuals and insane resale.  :o

For me the rule of thumb for leasing is for the lengths of the warranty period.

Same. Did that with the GTI and am doing it with both Minis. Did three year leases on the GTI and Clubman because we'd go over the KM limit if we went four years. Four years works for the other Mini though.

hehe

Every model has it's sweet trim position.  Go past the Tech trim and the value proposition goes south fast.  The trailer hitch things is hilarious in that one can order a class 3 plus a plug and play wiring harness for $350 shipped.  4 bolts and it's in.

I leased a truck for 5 years once.  I just did it for the low payments knowing that I would just sell it after 2-3 years.
