Let's be fair to the 915.  If you carefully rebuild it and use the right parts in the shifter and spend countless hours perfecting your shifting technique, it's "bearable."

the tranny in the S2000 has ruined me for all other manuals.

It is amaze-balls.  Dad knows not to let me drive it much, one day I won't give it back...
I must really drive one someday. Is it any similar to the manual in the Civic Si? Because that was super slick if I am being honest. Not a Honda fan at all, but damn was that a nice manual setup.

Better.  Way better.  Throw is even shorter but just as slick.  It's the definition of "snick-snick"
Yeah, it's an amazing transmission, the throws are so short & precise, hard to put into words.

I like the Stinger, a lot.  Looks great in person, the interior is nice, and it's a great value.  I love the hatch-sedan body thing.  Looks great, great utility.  Would buy.

Me too.  Aren’t the Stinger and G70 closely related in terms of platform?  A head to head test is a must.

This thread has proven a point that manual transmissions still have a presence, that should be considered in all mainstream auto marketing plans. The trick ( or discussion) is, whether manual trans sales are viable, considering production and marketing costs vs sales. Love it or hate it. That is the story.

Saw a blue 3.3T the other night. The taillights looked great and I would have stay with it for more look if I wasn't in a hurry.

Yes, I saw a blue one last month in the neighbourhood, and it looked very smart. Not as large as i was expecting.

That said, I saw a dark gray one on the 401 last month and it was very dirty with road grime. I assume if was privately owned because I cannot see a corporate car looking that ratty, (unless it just toured the local township gravel roads.).

Okay, the S2000 isn't going to run down a 1LE SS on the straights, nope, but the driving experience is amazing.
speaking of running down a 1LE on the straights, have you seen this?

the new Ford Mustang Cobra Jet

8 second 1/4 mile and 150 mph trap speed.

When you've lost the argument, admit defeat and hit the smite button.

now when you say new, that is not fair...I have never bought a new car, and probably never will with the way the automotive market is headed.

Yea....We're not all born with a silver spoon in our mouth like Vmango!   ;D

I also avoid buying new...let some other sucker take the depreciation hit!

As I understand Vman's point, it's that if people aren't buying new cars with manual transmissions, you can't fault manufacturers for not offering new cars with manual transmissions. Scoff at the "suckers " if you must, but what they choose to spend their money on new is what drives the market.

Manufacturers don't product plan around future used car sales. Because it has to be a new car sale first before anyone gets to buy it used later. If nobody wants to buy it new, then it'll be gone from the market. Simple as that. Kinda goes back to what I said way back on page one - 4 out of the 5 guys raging about the lack of manuals aren't buying them anyway.

I've seen a couple around town now.  Blues and greys.  Really want to see one in red.  Overall it's sharp looking ride that turns the hard-to-define trick of looking "premium".

Basically same car...like Equinox & that GMC thing...but the Hyundai...I mean Genesis, looks a shitton better, and I believe also has different suspension tuning.  Nicer car overall. (to my eyes - the KIA isn't near as pretty and looks huge in comparison).  If Patrick wants to get rid of a press car, be it the 3.3T or a manual 4 banger, I'd be happy to accept one for a long term test.  I'll even pay for the gas.  ;D

WTF man!  Thread derail violation!  And Hell's no!  That car has an AUTOMATIC!!  :o No manual!? No want!  I'll I'd never buy one of those! (and that's because I'll just never be able to buy one of those  :'( FML)

100%

No need to get offended if you purchase used cars - it's the smart way to purchase. But just understand you're part of the problem so just consider your outrage at manufacturers.

If you want to call me born with a silver spoon in my mouth or a rich swerver go right ahead but for the record I've purchased 4 cars since 2006. 3 have been manual transmission and 2 of those 3 were under $30,000.

2 cars, not 3: you don't get to count the Camaro because we have already established that you can't even SEE out the bloody thing ;D

If we do a survey of auto.ca cars with manual transmissions, would the % manual uptake be > or < than that of the industry.

I would guess about the same...
I love it when a plan comes together.

And it's all relative anyway.  To the guy riding the bus, some dude picking up a used Audi and a Lexus IS-F in the same week is facking Bill Gates.
