now when you say new, that is not fair...I have never bought a new car, and probably never will with the way the automotive market is headed.

But I drive a manual sport sedan, and if someone offered one in the near future when I would be in the market to add to the summer car stable sure I would pull that trigger. Sadly, nobody does anymore. Not even BMW or Alfa, two brands that absolutely SHOULD have a manual in the stable as they are supposed to be the driver's choice.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Yea....We're not all born with a silver spoon in our mouth like Vmango!   ;D

I also avoid buying new...let some other sucker take the depreciation hit!
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

What a great addition to the segment!  Personally, I still love the Lexus IS, but the Hyundai is a worthy offering.  $57K with that level of performance and features is "right sized" pricing.

My point being, one can hardly through stones at manufacturers for not producing manuals because people don't buy them when you've never bought one yourself.

Stupidest point ever.

I guess I can't critique movies because I've never directed one, or critique music because I'm not in a band, or art because I've not created a masterpiece.

Got it.   ::)

You're welcome to critique all you want but you're just contradicting yourself.

I don't think I am.

I think the Genesis with a V6 and a stick is better than a Genesis with a 4 banger and a stick.

There's no contradiction at all.  Zero.

I love my three pedal Miata.  I'd buy a Camaro or other performance car with a manual, 100% sure of that.  But, as much as I love DIY shifting, I'm with the great unwashed masses in the camp of buying an autobox in a daily driver/commuter/etc car.  First, resale blows on manual "regular" or luxury cars.  Second, good lightening-fast transmissions are sweet in sports sedans.  Still want three pedals in my 911, but in my sedan?  Nah.

Mercedes tried to sell us manuals, literally NO ONE bought them.  BMW has seen percentages drop dramatically.  Subaru once had 50% manual buyers not long ago, and that's a fraction of that now.  There's pretty much no market for "regular" cars with manuals.  No one wants a manual Forester anymore.

Some makes have tried, persisted, and ended up with unsold inventory.  It's the fault of buyers.  They want autos.

I'm a big "it depends".  I just find so many sticks to be "so-so".  I guess I'm picky...or the tranny in the S2000 has ruined me for all other manuals.  Heck...I didn't find the tranny in my 996 911 to be "great".  It was just "OK".  Whereas the PDK in 911s is pretty incredible.  Likewise the tranny in my IS-F is incredible.

So it depends on the tranny, the car, the price...lots of things.

If you don't buy new manual cars, regardless of your reasons, you're still part of the population not buying new manual cars. IE, you're part of the reason they're no longer offering them.

I agree with Vmango here. Regardless of the sentiment, if you do not purchase a new vehicle with manual trans, then what incentive is there for a manufacturer to produce one?

I'm in that conundrum. I'm 66 years old and currently drive a manual purchased new, and will probably buy another manual next vehicle. The G70 RWD manual really appeals to me, but it's $45,000 and for me, a $30,000 Hyundai Elantra GT 1.6T with all the goodies is pretty attractive. Am I going to spend $60,000 on a V-6 turbo AWD manual? Not a chance, but then I'm not the G70 target market.

Or maybe a used $30-$45K used Cayman S or 911.

That's the way my mind works..... ;)

It is amaze-balls.  Dad knows not to let me drive it much, one day I won't give it back...

I must really drive one someday. Is it any similar to the manual in the Civic Si? Because that was super slick if I am being honest. Not a Honda fan at all, but damn was that a nice manual setup.

Better.  Way better.  Throw is even shorter but just as slick.  It's the definition of "snick-snick"

RR's not kidding.  It's a lot better.  That car is ridiculously addictive.  The way it revs, the way VTEC (yo) kicks in, the go-cart handling, the everything.  I was luke-warm on the looks, but that's grown on me.  I thought it too plain at first, but Honda proved "plain" can age well.

Okay, the S2000 isn't going to run down a 1LE SS on the straights, nope, but the driving experience is amazing.

I know this is silly, and way off topic!!!  ;D, but I love driving a manual trans regardless of what it is. You really do feel a oneness with the vehicle. My car has its idiosyncrasies, and I find pleasure driving and compensating for those idiosyncrasies to achieve a satisfying drive. The perfect heel and toe "blip" downshift when making a left turn can be so satisfying, it is almost euphoric, regardless of the vehicle.

I dunno...I don't feel the same when the manual reminds me of a broken chicken leg bone....

That's connected to the trans with old rubber bands?  Like the 915?

Well, that could be true. The last direct shift manual I drove was my old 280Z, and it was exceptional. I owned a Sunbeam Tiger during the seventies with the worst shift linkage of any car I have driven. It was worse than all of the FWD cars I drove during the eighties and nineties.

Great, now everyone stop arguing and go back to talking about how awesome my car is  ;D

But a hatchback would be nice...as the A4 has the Q5 as its hatchback.    Or a wagon...but that might have the same market appeal as a manual transmission.

May I present to you...The Kia Stinger.

Seems like an appropriate suggestion - right down to the craptastic piece of chrome on the front fender!
I'd rather be car-poor than house-poor...
