It certainly looks awesome and I don't care about the manual but I would vote for a DSG.
A hatchback would be nice...as the A4 has the Q5 as its hatchback.    Or a wagon...but that might have the same market appeal as a manual transmission.

FWIW Patrick, Guelph has this fabulous new Hyundai dealership with plenty of room for a Genesis display
That brings up another point. Will I be able to take my Genesis to my local Hyundai dealership for a simple oil change?   If not then I think you are making a mistake...not big work or warranty work , just the minimal oil change, new wipers stuff.

I think many of us agree on two points:
1. It would be nice to have a manual with the V6.
2. It doesn't make a business case so it's not likely to happen.

If it wasn't selling well, and the reason was lack of a manual, Genesis may have spent the money to develop a transmission. Else, if it does sell well and the company has a surplus of cash, they can then develop a manual to further expand their base.

Let's face it, this manual Genesis is lasting 2-3 years at best. The market for manuals in cars like this is completely dead. For 2019, this is the only RWD sedan available with a manual in North America. Unless I'm forgetting something, there are zero luxury branded sedans available with a manual for the 2019 model year aside from the G70. BMW and Porsche and Cadillac and Jaguar are the only premium brands offering manuals in coupes and some of those models are going away imminently as well.

It sucks, but that's the reality.

Or a wagon...

Like this?

Hmm, that doesn't actually look as good as the regular G70.  The regular G70 has a sexy rear end!

My point is, Chaosphere and I have stopped, and you're still going on about it.

You called me a troll some time back for daring to disagree with you.  Turns out you're the one who can't have a civil, mature conversation about something without resorting to sarcasm, or saying the other party is having a hissy fit.

I feel positive that the irony of this comment is wholly lost on you.  :rofl2:

It's reality that eludes a number of people quite completely.  Because for them, point 3 is: I don't care that there is no business case for it, I don't care that everyone else in the segment has bailed on it, I WANT it and Genesis is uniquely lame for not giving it to meeeeee!!!   :o

Seemingly such a great car.  I'd love to test drive one at some point, even though I'm not in the market.  Would I love to see the 3.3T available with a manual?  Absolutely.  Do I unfortunately understand why they are not offering it?  Absolutely.  A very sad sign of the times now with manuals disappearing more each year.  :(

Agreed with all of that.  My wife simply will NOT drive an auto and I tell her she better take spectacular care of her Fit or else come to terms with buying used because when the next purchase rolls around the manual options will be somewhere between sparse and zero.  Probably much closer to zero.

The argument that offering a manual will build enough "enthusiast cred" to drive overall sales higher is ludicrous.   An ad with some paddles shifts (just like F1!!!) would do more or less the same for 99.9% of the audience.

Well, I'll throw my two cents worth in and say that you've hit the nail on the head.

I live in northeast Toronto, and the "hot" cars now are mostly FGC's, black with blacked out windows, loud exhaust and DSG.  They drive down the street with the DSG in sport mode, banging up and down the shifts to get a good "bark", using paddles. These drivers have no interest in manuals. They're all wannabe race drivers. I'm sure Patrick being a local, is sick of them too. Fifteen years ago, the rage was BOV's chirping on every shift. I wonder what the next craze will be?

yeah I agree - with the blipping of DSGs it is annoying hearing the buzzzzzz blat buzzzzzzz blat and I agree they are everywhere - nobody can or wants to drive manual anymore

and you know what? It all sucks! All the manufacturers suck for not offering manuals in their enthusiast offerings anymore, not just Hyundai. Remember when the RS4 only came with the manual?

It is like The Battle of Thermopylae - you know it is inevitable, and you are going to lose...but you have to fight anyways because you might inspire some people down the road...

I will always be driving manuals, I guess I will increasingly be buying older and older cars. That is fine.

Blame the F1 crowd! If the FIA ruled F1 transmissions had to be manually activated using a single lever through gates designed in an H pattern, that mechanically repositioned gears to interact with other gears in the transaxle, resulting in changed gear ratios, the world would be in balance once again.  ;D
