I've always done the "let air out" method on both the Suburban and Yukon, and I can only remember one time that it didn't work and I had to go to the dealer to have them use the reset tool. Bought the Suburban in 2007, so that's like 28 tire changeovers. I find that if I follow the instructions and be patient, it works just fine.
But, I was disappointed to find I have a bad sensor in the winter wheels now. The reset worked fine when I did the switchover last week, but one tire read too low for a few days, and now it's not reading at all. First issue with a sensor since 2007.
And it's doubly disappointing because that was a new OE sensor I bought just a couple years ago with the new winter tires. Not sure if I'm going to bother replacing it...
