Great review!

I personally disagree with the assessment of the rear seating space. I'm 5'10", and sitting behind my own driving position, my knees were firmly pressed into the back of the front seat. It felt like one of the tightest rear seats I have ever been in in a 4-door vehicle.

I agree, besides the terrible foot room, it also feels very claustrophobic trying to sit in the rear of this vehicle.  I'm 5'-11" and sitting behind my own driving position I had to spread my legs left and right to even get into a sitting position.  Really turned me off this vehicle despite it's many redeeming features as pointed out in the article.
Glad to see that a front centre console is now standard.

Have to agree with the above.  I'm about the same height as you too and found the back seat a joke.  It was right up there with the Caddy ATS sedan for back seat comfort.

It’s definitely tight there:

Yeah, the back room is tight.  But I don't think it matters.

It's a vehicle for people who only occasionally need rear seats but want AWD and a bit more ride height.

Yeah, the back room is tight.  But I don't think it matters.

It's a vehicle for people who only occasionally need rear seats but want AWD and a bit more ride height.

Back seat room is beyond tight, but I agree with your assessment overall.  It's a stylish, nimble ride for empty nesters or even a great first car for a kid going to college.  But for those who need to regularly put actual grown people in the back seat - from teens on up - this would be an unworkable compromise.

agreed...it looks like there's less room back there than in my Rio5, but as i've said before, it's usually just me, so if i were buying in this segment, it wouldn't be a dealbreaker as i rarely have more than one passenger anyway...that's who this vehicle is likely targeted to, so it shouldn't be a problem for most of its prospective customer base.

The CX-3 has a monumental 6.3 inches ground clearance, less than a Mazda6 by two-tenths. It is the vey definition of a hatch butched up to look like a mini-crossover, and sold at prices over the odds. Cute though, and drives well, because it really isn't on stilts.
