Inappropriate desk calendar
« on: October 01, 2018, 07:31:55 pm »
When we went to bring my wife's Tiguan in today from end of lease, the used car manager had this calendar on his desk, facing towards the customer.  I'm sorry it is very crude but I am wondering if I should take this issue up with the dealership management?  Needless to say my wife was appalled.  Are we being overly sensitive, I don't think so.

That is awful and not even funny.  Report it.  No idea how somebody can think that is acceptable today.

As if! WTF!? I can't help but laugh at the stupidity of that, geebus!

I probably would've asked the guy what the f*ck is this!? And then spoke to his manager right then & there.

Of course the owner is in on the "joke" as the calendar has been on the employee's desk for half a year. This calendar would not be offensive to me personally, just show I'm dealing with a bunch of douches that perhaps I shouldn't; but to a woman it is downright offensive and disrespectful. Imagine finding such a thing on the wall of a family restaurant or a department store... after the local news got involved there would be a big Now Hiring sign for a new management team. I won't offer any advise here but wonder if VW Canada might be interested to hear what kind of dumbasses represent their brand.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.

I worked in a tool and die shop when I was young and they had a nice calendar on the wall. Nobody would be any wiser but if you lifted it in the right spot there was a nude woman under each month. Thought it was pretty smart.

They made me take it down.

Weird on many levels...

A 2018 calendar?  Seems like something from the 80's..  knock off Letterman Top-Ten lists..

Jokes not even funny or creative.. not offensive to me personally - just lame.  Maybe trying to be ironic?  Even then very clumsy.

You'd think VW training/awareness programs would prevent this even with the most clueless employee..

Are there 365 of these lame lists?  Maybe the rest are ok and this one particularly bad and guy just didn't realize it..

Who needs a desk calendar anyways?

Weird..

Email the guy directly and point it out.   Don't get high and mighty and give him a chance to correct..

Too many diesel fumes?  I mean those things are GROSS polluters!  :P  Maybe he didn't get a chance to read it and just tore the previous day off...( :rofl2: as if)

Well, in fairness, there might be the odd and uncomfortable look and stare at the company Christmas party...sorry, "holiday party"...someone trying to figure out where it all belongs. Like where is the "rrocket" tattoo?  If it had been a Kardashian or someone I'm sure it would've been fine.

Who needs a desk calendar anyways?

Me & Bubba (where is Bubba??) do!  My wife buys me the Classic Car Calendar every year for on my desk at work.  It's awesome.  Bubba IIRC buys the same one. No ladies, just cars.

I sent a message to the dealership, the manager just called apologizing profusely.  Apparently the guy didn't realize he had left it there (we were first customer Monday morning), but still no excuse.  He assured me the calendar has been disposed of and again apologized about 100 times.  He also said he looked through the calendar and that was by far the most tasteless page in it...... but still apologizing.

While that is funny, yeah, 100% inappropriate for a workplace environment. Hell, you can't have sunshine girls as pinups anymore, let alone something like this.
Lighten up Francis.....

What is even funnier is that item 10 really is a 'woman power' sort of comment, the rest are just ignorant.
My diesel car self-identifies as an electric vehicle.
