I would love to drive that Countach. I know it is a pain but I would not care.

I agree such aggressive tires is kinda limiting on a car that is supposed to handle a range of driving conditions, but hey if you don't like them, change them after they wear out in a season  :)
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I'm fixing to buy a new (to me) car. The one I'm looking at has summer rubber on it.

I'll likely ditch those tires the day I get the car for some ultra high performance all seasons...just to better enjoy the car.

How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

A good call. Unless you are a track rat, I see little difference between the two with normal aggressive driving.

Track tires on a set of rims and some nice all seasons for the other 99.5% of the time.
Lighten up Francis.....

R-compounds are completely street legal.

Not really sure about the tires on the Mustang, though. Article says they’re Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s. Are they actually R-compounds? I see that Canadian Tire sells them.  ??? ;D

Yes I know they're legal but they are awful on the road. Even with my 200 tread wear tires they pick up every little stone and they are dicey in the rain. They also need to be heated up big boy style and I know these things are all much worse with an R compound.

I used to think it would be fine when I lusted for Z06s and what not but know that I now what these tires are all about I generally think it's silly (unless you're truly tracking the car).

I didn't find my RE-11's too dicey in the rain (I can get the rear end loose, but the car still felt stable, I even did lapping in the rain with them) or even needing to get warmed up too much and they're only a 180 tread wear tire! They do suck in the cold though, that's for sure.

The width of my tires may play a role?

As I said they're fine in the rain...standing water is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad

Maybe? Yours are steamrollers compared to mine, lol!

Here are mine in action in the rain.

As with winter tire tech, I think UHP all seasons have benefited from technology too.

Porsche 951...perfect winter beater :)

I just know from experience that UHP summers in the rain and cold (15C and below) is like a skating rink, they turn to hockey pucks.

FTR, I as well am very disappointed in the Audis. Thought they would be faster.

Even the "low power" 460hp SS is traction impaired with its gummy tires, not sure I'd be too keen on an all season, not even the highest performance versions.

What are the OE tires?  I wonder if there is a tire that would offer as much dry traction but not be quite so compromised in the wet?  Dreaming?

I'm guessing you haven't driven on any of these?

Yes they are that good...and more than up to the task on the street.

The alternate is keeping the car parked....which sucks more than giving up a smidge of dry performance.

The C7 guys are positively orgasmic over the Michelin AS3+ (I liked them too).  They've gone from "parking my car when it rains" to "driving until the snow falls".

Most dissapointed with the RS3 and RS5 performance.  The RS models continue to be poor handlers despite rocket ship straight line speed.
except the B7 RS4, heard that was quite good

Civic Type R matched the time for the Focus RS in 2016......

And beat the STI again

The fact that the STI is essentially a previous version of a previous version, the time is remarkable.  Only 1 second off the vaunted Type R despite having less wheel HP.  If Subaru doesn't screw up the next generation, it may end up being a hot commodity.

Yea...despite having less WHP but having AWD.   ::)

For 2019 it gets 330HP to IIRC...

I had heard that it gets 310 but the RA motor with the forged pistons and more aggressive third gear.  The next generation is thought to have a version of the WRX 2.0 with 330 hp and over 320 ft lbs of torque but who knows.  I would like to see a version of the 2.4L turbo but no one asked me.

Or do you know something about the 2019 that I don’t?

Wait...next gen is 2020, not 2019, right?

If so, I heard "at least" 330.  But then someone else was chirping "400"....but I don't believe that.

330 sounds more realistic.

Looks like there are a number of diff cooler kits for $1-2k if a person is tracking their car, and not just keeping it as a garage queen.

So Vmango's SS is a garage queen?  ;D

7500km in 13 months? What's the vote?  ;D

The new(ish) P Zero All Season Plus

I've used the competitors on my 911. The Michelin AS3 an Continental DWS.  I agree with the test assessment...this tire does everything well. Most notably is the quiet, compliant ride. Pretty impressive for a performance tire. Really, really suits the character of her IS300; she's had some fairly loud/rough riding performance tires over the years. So these were a very pleasant change. I suspect these would have been stellar on my 996 911. I think probably the Michelin had better ultimate wet grip...but these are just fine. Dry grip is good too...certainly enough to push the car aggressively (but safely) on the street. I guess if I had to sum it up, these feel like the luxury version of a high performance all season tire.

I'm looking at an IS-F and I'm disappointed I can't get these tires for that cars sizes.
