fantastic engine, I prefer the styling of the old R8 but that is just me (especially considering the fake blacked off intake area which is a major faux pas).

Closest to the LMS R8 you can get on the road, so you can pretend you are in WEC blasting along the back roads. That is cool.

but...for the street it needs a manual to maximize the sports car experience. Old school drive wheels, old school big n/a engine, it needs an old school gearbox. It needs a manual.

If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Agreed.  The little snickety-snick of working that shifter through the metal gate of the old car was one of the best attributes.

Have to agree that if this came with a manual it'd likely be one of the best cars of this type.  I've always liked the R8 and the first generation offered a manual on both the V8 and V10 models so I'd probably choose one of those over this, or maybe a Porsche GT3 with a manual.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that the manual is dead in this class of car. The R8 was one of the last ones to offer a stick.

The RWS is really cool, and I appreciate that it's cheaper than the normal R8 despite being limited production.

with a manual it would be a hall-of-fame collectible. It would be a classic that drivers and collectors pined after for decades to come. Would be in auctions right next to manual Lambos and Ferraris.

With an auto, it is in a sea of many and nothing special. So sad, it could have been one of the all-time greats.
