The nicest stock LS1 F-body (I'd probably find a WS6 T/A based on looks alone, and a nicer interior than the Camaro) with a 6-speed and gnarly winter tires. Not AWD, but AWD is for wimps anyway. Loved driving f-bodies in the snow, plus endless tuning possibilities and proper V8 power. Do it!

Eww....

She'd be in a Fox body before ever allowing her in an F-body!   :rofl2:

So really are we down to the Acura or an Audi.

My vote goes to the A5.

Yea, I kinda prefer the A5 with S-line kit.

A bit above budget....but very, very nice.

You could get an S90-R with AWD and a stick....Not that I'd have it.

The AWD is the crippling factor here, drop that requirement and you could be into all sorts of cool stuff. Tonight, I am thinking an older base model Porsche Cayman would be perfect....Plus, with the weight over the rear wheels and a good set of tires she'll be loving snow days.

It's not that she has any difficulty driving in the snow.  She is an expert snow driver.  She takes her RWD, manual Lexus to work 98% of the time in the snow.

It's those several days of the year where the roads are REALLY bad (Lake effect snow).  I mean..we only had to use the Forester a handful of times in this capacity.  But when she needed it, it was there.

And fret not about a very sporty RWD car....I'm also buying a "new" car.   ;)

Also...there no facking way I'd buy a $15K Cayman...even if one was available.  Buying a "cheap" Porsche is asking for it.  Also...Cayman S or bust.

I'm voting for the Stealth.  If they're proven more reliable than an FGC, why FGC?  Plus, how nice would it be to take a 1 owner, never winter driven, loved from birth, always stored inside car...and winter beater it!  ;D

That looks like a very clean example.

Also something to keep in mind is that the A5 and TT use different AWD systems. TT is Haldex and A5 is Torsen. I prefer Torsen because it is more equal and true full time mechanical AWD. I think in that year A5 it would be 60/40 bias rear to front. TT is primarily FWD, with the torque split around 90/10.

I had a Haldex controller in my old TT and it was awesome.

True, you always have that option as well. I guess I like Torsen as it is more mechanical and relies less on electronics.

Did Volvo ever sell a 850 AWD with a manual transmission?

I think they’re looking for something a little younger than 20+ years old...

there is the S60-R or V70-R which are AWD and with a manual. But those are getting old now and not coupes.

the best options considering the requirements have already been suggested

Yes but it was 1997 only, wagon only, and they only brought 50 into Canada (and zero into the U.S.). It was basically a test run before they brought AWD to the facelifted and renamed S70/V70 the next year.

that Saab is a a great buy...I would take it in a second for a winter beater. Fast, turbo, V6 wail, AWD, fairly reliable and cheap parts. Mine is a beast in winter, and it only is FWD.

...but it isn't a coupe

rrocket, I think even in quotation marks, "beater" is confusing us. You should've just called it a winter driver.  :rofl2:
