I probably wouldn't choose it myself but I like that colour.

Also, Bluetooth did not exist in 1997.  :P

would rather a last gen with the flat 6 11/10 times

I do not care that it is slower, I don't care if it handles slightly worse. The sound of a sports car, especially a convertible, is EVERYTHING. Muted, gruff, tractor sounds belong nowhere near my sports car.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I know it's a special Boxster, but $115K is heart stopping.

Yeah, my money would be going elsewhere as well. Beautiful car though.

agreed...for the same money, i'd likely get a base 911 Carerra 4...i know it's not a convertible, but i don't really care about that anyway...alternatively, perhaps a Cayman and save some cash.

Agree this Boxster is simultaneously very appealing and not where my 115k Porsche Dollars would go. I'd sooner do that base Carrera 4, or a 997 Carrera + used Boxster combo...or maybe just this Carrera and $25k towards lifetime wax and detailing  :P

I'm a 911 snob so no boxster for me either. A used GT-R or 911TT sound, way, WAY, more appealing.

Some starting at pricing facts BEFORE any options have been added....

718 Boxster $66,100
718 Boxster S $81,000
718 Boxster GTS $95,000

718 Cayman $63,700
718 Cayman $78,600
718 Cayman GTS $92,600

911 Carrera $104,000
911 Carrera S $120,000
911 Carrera GTS 137,800

911 Carrera 4 $111,900
911 Carrera 4S $127,900
911 Carrera GTS $145,700

New Porsches are not cheap, adding options makes them even more expensive, and used Porsches hold their value very well.

I'd gladly take the last gen Cayman GTS with the flat six as my first pick. Don't even think at looking at the pricing for the GT4 models.

It totally depends on what you're looking for I guess.  If you want a Roadster, which is what I would be interested in, a GT-R wouldn't enter the equation and a 911 TT Cabrio is a lot more expensive.  For myself personally, the Boxster GTS ticks a lot of the right boxes.  YMMV of course.

As usual, everyone complains about the as-tested price and ignores the fact that you can get a more basic config for a lot less.

Base Boxster GTS: $95,000
Standard color: $0 (white/black/red/yellow)
6 speed manual: $0
Heated seats: $610

That's really all you need. You can save a few more bucks if you opt for the Cayman GTS.

Too lazy to look, but does that come with the sport seats? Cause that would be a "must have" for me  ;D

Has the manual sports seats plus, the adaptive sport seats are $3460 extra.

honestly, not a big difference between 95k to 115k - same ballpark of sports car for me ie. too much for what it is

It's still more than 20% of the base price in options which is pretty significant. And those people comparing a loaded 718 to a base C4 are comparing apples to oranges.

Good luck finding one with only this option
a couple of years ago on motorweek Zack asked a Porsche representative about average option on a Porsche and he said about  18000$
