The interior is a huge leap forward over my 2014! I'd happily buy one again  ;D

There's a mistake in the price as the leather seat option is listed twice so the as tested price is too high by $995.

Great review. I would love one of these as a replacement for our 07....not out of the family, just relegated from DD status to offroad toy. A nice, shiny new Sahara with all the bells and whistles would make a great new daily driver.
Lighten up Francis.....

If it goes sideways, I'm sure I could pawn off the smoldering heap on some wide eyed Jeep groupie for what I paid for it a few years down the road. I know its a Fiatsler, being half Italian means the electrics are shot coming down the assembly line, but maybe they didn't screw it up as bad...maybe....

i love the new JLs...i'd likely get a Rubicon...not because i'd really intend to do some serious off roading, but moreso because i like the way it looks...i know, i'm silly that way.

Man, that interior is light years away from my old YJ

I don't know... YJ's weren't that cheap either... a Laredo in 1989 had a starting price of ~$15k US about the same price as a Honda Accord back then.

And then you had to add the rear seats as an option!

Have always been a fan of Wranglers and this new JL really looks great with the subtle tweaks they did - in particular that character line (or whatever it's called) running along the doors, just as it does on the LR Defender 110.

This would be an awesome "fun car", but as a shameless urbanite, for $60k, I gotta say I see far more value in a loaded and still-very-capable Grand Cherokee.

Today a base Sahara is a hell of a lot more expensive than a base Accord.

And then you had to add the rear seats as an option!

It was standard on the Laredo, which was effectively the Sahara of its day.

Edit: You could also get a base 1989 for $8995 USD. The Lardeo was the top model.

Good eye! It completely slipped by me when I was formatting the pricing list. I've corrected the article with the correct options total and as-tested price.
Thanks for the heads up!

It does put a smile on your face.  But for some reason, the exposed gas cap bothers me.  Too tempting for gas thieves, maybe?

In Alberta, we've had some gas thieves, and honestly, I'd rather have a non-locking gas cap because they've been working around the caps by drilling a hole in your gas tank.  Take my gas, it's maybe a hundred bucks, but a new tank?   :o

Watched Motormouth's review on this last night.  He claims according to CBB these have 91% market value after 4 years!  If that's the case and you can actually come close to getting that much if you sell it after 48 months, these are a bargain regardless of the MSRP.

yeah, but they can't keep that up. it has retained 91% of it's value from back then, because back then, the transaction price was only 80% of the new transaction prices for a jk. only way it will be worth 91% of current msrp is if in 4 years, a new jl is 63 grand.
